An overall good buy. The fit is comfortable and I love the design. At moments I felt that I was a bit bulky but I appreciated that it was lightweight. I really never used the case. Wonderful battery life, I went 4-5 days of regular use before even thinking about charging. Sound quality is stellar, noise cancelling was just ok. Overall a good purchase , especially compared with competitor products that often run more expensive despite comparable sound quality.

I’ll break it down by look, feel, ease of setup and sound Look and feel are amazing! My ears are small so they fit in the cup perfectly I’d assume most normal sized ears would too but larger ears might feel the headset cup rims on their ears. It’s a nice soft cushion but I’m wondering how sturdy they will be because the material seems thin. Comfortable I purchased the blue and I think it’s classic and clean. Sound is nice. Bass is good, not too much. I can hear background noise so they are not perfect sound canceling and I have had better. Now the issue. I downloaded the app, I went through the setup process. UX on the app is clean but not intuitive. I’m sure there are things I need to get used to but I’m comparing these to the ease of setup I had from my last two headphones, which were also very impressive and less expensive. I’d reco them to people but I’d say they are blowing my mind.

[Employee of bestbuy] If you aren’t planning on spending 500 dollars on a pair of Airpods max this is the best option available. Pros: -Easy controls in-app on Android or iPhone. -Wired option. (Aux) -All-day battery. -GREAT bass and mid-tones. -Solid build quality. -Comfortable during standard use. -Noise canceling is way better than any other headphones I’ve used (better than ANY airpods). Cons: -Treble is slightly lacking compared to bass (still sound amazing). -Touch controls are difficult and iffy. -A little chunky(if you like to lay down while using headphone they’re pretty uncomfortable). -Transparency mode SUCKS compared to airpods pros but on their own its fine enough not to bother me. I love using these headphones, the only reason I didn’t leave five stars was because of the transparency mode.

I own this model and the WH-1000XM2, and honestly, the M2 is more comfortable with better sound. The M2 is heavier with more plush material, but the M4 offers more options that I don't need with more complexity in the app. I love both of them (they BOTH have changed my listening world), but the M2 feels better made. I wish I could turn off the side touch options in both of them (maybe this is an option?) because I love laying down with them on and the touch option sometimes pauses playback. But this is still a quality option. Pros: Great at noise cancellation, sleek design, automatic pausing of playback when you take them off, side touch options available to change in the app (i.e., ffwd to next track, raise volume, pause, and speech search options). Cons: More "airy" design with lighter materials used than the M2, brief audio drops when connected to Bluetooth? (Why? It's the highest Bluetooth rating right now). Still pauses playback when lying down on the side ear cup.

This is my first premium headphone purchase, and I’m very happy with them. They are comfortable to wear for long periods of time, the microphone works well for work calls, and the touch pad is responsive and easy to use. I’m happy with the battery life. The connection to 2 Bluetooth devices is seamless and really easy to set up. Used for airplane travel, and the noise cancellation made the airport experience so much better. I will say that during the flight, air pressure in my ears felt weird for a few days. The material is prone to smudges.

I love these headphones. I have now had them for over a year. The sound quality is still just as good as well as the battery life. I originally bought these for airport and gym use when I’m not using my AirPods but actually use these quite often. I even use these headphones for gaming and when I just don’t feeling like sticking my AirPods in my ear. Cushioning has flattened a little but not too much. Still very soft and comfortable around my ears and on top of head.

Pretty good noise cancelling albeit voices and conversations can still get through on lower volumes. I'm not much of an audiophile but I've noticed that sometimes the sound quality can sound a little iffy but overall not unlistenable. Good battery life and the connection is stable.

Hi AndresB76,
We are glad to hear that you are enjoying the stable connection and the great battery life of your WH-1000XM4 headphones, as well as the noise-cancelling performance! Regarding voices occasionally getting through, noise-cancellation is specifically tuned to block low-frequency noises like engine hums. However, you may be able to fine-tune the noise-cancelling and address the sound quality by adjusting the settings within the Sony | Headphones Connect app, which offers an equalizer for customization. Thanks for choosing Sony.

I went from the Skull Candy Crushers (BASS) to these because I didn't like some of the features of the SCC. The GOOD..... The ANC and Ambient sound on these headphones are amazing, best I've ever experienced. I truly enjoy the comfortability of these headphones, and the Capacitive Touch Interface is very responsive and and takes immediate action. For example, changing to the next track happens in an instant. The Bad.... However, the volume control only seems to increase incrementally and like like a slider feel. So it takes 10 swipes up to go from 0% volume to 100%. The bass on these headphones are lacking, but the audio has a luxurious balance of mids/highs. Sometimes the ANC or Ambient noise gets stuck and makes the sound quality on my Mac sound distant and not very clear. The battery life doesn't really seem like 30 hours, but I haven't taken the time to test it throughly

My old Beat headphones finally gave out on me, so it was time for an upgrade. I heard about these headphones being fabulous. They are pretty lightweight and comfortable. The sound quality is excellent. I wish the battery life were a little better, although not terrible. I did turn off the automatic power-off feature because it would turn off while I was using it, so maybe that's a big reason for the battery life. I will miss the seamless connectivity between my devices that Beats provided. The touchpad seems to be very sensitive, which can sometimes be annoying. Oh, and can we talk about how pretty these headphones are? I love the tan-grayish color. Overall I would recommend these headphones.

i love the color and the case is a good size. usb-c charging YAY. out of the box sound is good, i haven't touched the EQ. noise cancelling is great, sometimes i forget how loud noises really are when i take them off. battery life is great, i don't use them super often and i've charged them only once, they're still on 70% as of today. i can always count on them having charge. the only reason i give them a 4 star is because my ears get hot and a little sore after wearing them for multiple hours, just be weary of that.

Hi ratonsita,
Thank you for sharing your review with us! We're glad to hear you love the color, case, USB type-C charging, good sound quality, noise cancellation, and long battery life of your WH1000XM4. We're sorry to hear your discomforts while wearing the headphones for multiple hours. We suggest to adjust the headband and the earpads properly than can help reduce discomforts. Also, try lowering the volume. You may be experiencing a symptom called listener fatigue. That is where your eardrums work hard to manage the volume that flows through your ear canal. The louder the volume, the bigger the strain on your eardrums, which then causes the feeling of fatigue. Highly recommend for sound quality & noise cancellation. They are excellent at cancelling low-frequency and low-mid frequency noise, but not so much with high-frequency ambient noise. However once you increase the volume when listening to audio, the high-frequency noises are practically non-existent & inaudible. I hesitated before purchasing this product since it's a big investment. The experience is AMAZING so far with sound quality, noise cancellation, built quality, and battery life. I'd strongly recommend this product and can gladly say that this is one of the best headphones out there.

I love almost everything about these headphones. Pros: light weight, amazing sound, grey battery life, the material used for the headphones and case are great, features like the auto pause when talking, and the app that goes with the app allows a decent amount of customization of sound (base, treble, etc) Cons: the auto noise cancelling is very finicky. Several times sitting in the car it would make an odd sound similar to having one window of your car open. As if it cannot equalize. The headphones do have a feature to connect to a second device (needs to be turned on manually) but I’ve had it reset several times. The app that is great is also not so great. Mainly because the app stays active one phone and kills the battery. Lastly, the grey or silver stains SUPER easily. It was the last pair in stock, or I would have gone with a different color. Overall, a strong buy. And these replaced the Bose QC135

Hi ac107534, We regret to hear that you're having concerns with this WH1000XM4. We apologize for the inconvenience. The noise-canceling function is effective in low-frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices. Check the setting of the Adaptive Sound Control on the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app. When the Adaptive Sound Control is turned on, the noise canceling function may become insufficient. When you connect headphones to a device, both the music playback (Media audio) and the phone call function (Call audio) are connected simultaneously. Most headphones allow multiple Bluetooth® connections to audio devices, however, to switch sources, you would need to go into the Bluetooth settings, disconnect the current source, and then connect the source you want to use with the headphones. Unlike many other headphones, the WH-1000XM4 headphones support a Multipoint connection. This means that the headphones can switch easily between two audio sources without needing to go through the normal Bluetooth reconnection process. For more details, please check the link below:

Unbeatable noise-cancellation quality and commendable audio quality make these the headphones to get when you need a quiet environment. Topping it all off is remarkable battery life (~30 hours). The main detriment is less than stellar connectivity options. It includes Sony's LDAC, but doesn't have any low-latency codecs.

Hi MichelleV,
While we're happy that you are enjoying its amazing audio and excellent noise cancellation, we're sorry you've been running into difficulty. When you wear the headset over a cap, cloth, a scarf, hair, etc., wearing detection may not work properly, and the touch sensor control panel may not be available for operation. Wear the headset so that your ears are inside the earpads. Additionally, the headset will not operate correctly when you operate the headset with your fingernail or a gloved hand. Remove your glove, and operate the headset with the ball of your finger.
It is important to note that when you swipe your finger forward/backward or up/down on the touch sensor control panel, the touch sensor control panel may not work correctly depending on the angle at which the headset is worn or the direction your head is facing. When you swipe your finger forward/backward, make the movements perpendicular to the headband.
We do have good information on this link here if the touch sensor control panel does not respond correctly: https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/wh1000xm4/v1/en/contents/TP0002758108.html
