Great headphones! I have owned the XM2,XM3, XM4, and the XM5. I have enjoyed these headphones for their phenomenal noise, cancellation. They have amazing adoptability in the app on how much or little noise canceling you would like how you would like the headphones to sound if you would like the headphones to adjust automatically to your surroundings or you adjust it manually. The app and headphones are designed to be easy to use yet. Give you complete control. I use these headphones every day and having it be a large 30 hour battery life with ANC on is incredible. I am a very heavy user of the headphones and love the battery life, comfort, ease of use, solid connectivity, great sounding audio. I’m a student and do a lot of video editing work, these headphones, allow me to focus on my work and not get distracted by all the noise in activity around me. One minor complaint is the previous models of Sony‘s wireless headphones all were collapsible, and the earmuffs folded in this model is not collapsible, which makes it harder to store in my bag since the carrying case is much larger, and I frequently grab the headphones backwards since that earmuffs fold the opposite direction of the previous models. Besides that love the headphones.

I love the Sony XM series and have been wearing them since 2020 with the XM3s. When I upgraded to these I was excited, but they’ve unfortunately broken on me many times. I return to them because the comfort and sound quality is there, but I wished the hinges around the headphone and headband area were stronger and not made of a hollow plastic. That actually changed in their new XM6’s which I have yet to be able to afford, but I do love that they finally added a metal hinge which will hopefully be more structurally sound (and repairable). My Best Buy+ membership is the only reason I haven’t bought a different pair, so shoutout to whoever sold me on it a couple years ago as it’s saved me thousands and I still get to enjoy the Sony brand. I like these, but would not recommend them over the XM4 or XM6 models. Additionally some problems I’ve had are it just shutting off randomly, disconnecting the audio from my phone while still being paired, and other weird software (possibly i’m no expert) related issues that have made owning them more frustrating than previous models.

This was my first non-beats over-ear headphones that I purchased. For starters, I love how the headphones feel in the hands and how easy it is to use the Sony app. You don’t have to download the app but I like the feature where you can simultaneously pair this with 2 devices. (My iPhone and iMac, and switching between them from listening to Spotify on iPhone to switching to watching a YouTube video on the iMac was a very nice seamless transition) I have no issues with the battery life whatsoever. The carrying case still feels slimmer than my egg shaped beats case and I can fit it easier in a backpack than the beats. Sound and fit are one of the most subjunctive things to review. I didn’t know that it is recommended by Sony to fully extend the headphones and then put those over your ears and then shorten the headband where it sits on top of your head. What I find best is to approximate how much I need to extend them on both sides and then put them on and do a few slight adjustments to both sides. If you are somewhat OCD like me, I might be difficult to extend both sides at the same length (something that I never worried about on the beats) the Sonys fit closer to your ears with little cushion compared to the beats. The fit feels nice and has a modern-feel to them. The sound on the beats (studio 3’s) is a bit louder and in your face compared to the Sony’s. I really do appreciate the custom sound settings (although I just leave the custom EQ off). You can totally feel and hear the little subtleties of certain tracks and the tracks that stand out are the bass heavy songs and the instrumental songs. Mid ranged songs like rock and roll are clean to my ears but I do miss the beats in your face sound while blasting rock n roll. The star off from 5 stars is that this headphone should be priced around 300-350 dollars. I bought it on sale and thought it was at least worth it for 350. As a Apple fanboy myself, that explains the constant beats headphones in the past, I don’t feel like I ever have to use my beats headphones anymore (they were shedding in the ear cups and the plastics were cracking on the hinge parts).

These have great noise cancellation and ambient sound settings. I also like the way they fit. They're not too heavy and don't cause me pain after wearing them for several hours even with glasses on. Call/mic, and sound quality are great too. I do wish the battery life was longer, and haven't found a great way to switch between devices without the app (they prioritize my laptop over my phone even if my laptop has no audio and my phone does). I'm sure there's a shortcut to this that I haven't worked out yet, but in the meantime it is annoying.

These are excellent-quality and very comfortable headphones for their price. The microphone for calls is really clear. But only after a week of using them, I came into contact with some issues where it would randomly disconnect from my phone for no reason, and I don't know why it does that. I really hope it doesn't do that with you guys. Besides that, def recommend

Headphone build quality is great. Nice and clean seamless design. Earcups leather feels soft and comfy. Sounds are amazing but earcups a too shallow. It does not feel immersive so you will have to turn up the volume a little higher. Battery life is wonderful specially for long travel.

The headphones are comfortable, sounds great, and they keep a charge. The only issue I noticed about them was the connection. The headphones do not connect to everything via Bluetooth. The only way I was able to connect to my laptop and PS5 was via wire. If I wouldn't be able to connect my headphones via Bluetooth to my phone, I would have returned them, because that's what I wanted them for. I use the headphones mostly for my workout music.

Good audio quality, nice comfort and fit, absolutely AMAZING battery life, and pretty resilient as well. A great pair of headphones that definitively aren’t anything to scoff at, but honestly if you’re in this price range and looking for a new pair, Sennheisers are probably a better way to go. Some small critiques on these, oils from your fingers show up pretty easily on the black version, and after some use the headband can come loose

At first, I've really LOVED these. They are not as noise canceling as Apple ones, but the weight and price were more suited for my needs. I have been so careful and protective of these, gently removing them and placing them back in their case or each use. I just barely hit 2 years of having them and when I removed pulled them from the case today, a piece of plastic popped into my lap and it's the part where one of the ear cups rotates and so basically they are not usuable. No seal, no ability to even align with the ear in a way that I could use them again. So sad.

After debating between this, and the Bose knows counseling, I went with Sony. I read and compared a lot of tech reviews between both, and even listened through both in person. I will say the noise canceling on this pair for the most part drowns out most of the noise but unless I put the volume up, I can still hear, the gym music. I might have to play with the Settings more I just haven’t. I would say my main gripe with this is if you’re at the gym and you’re laying down or on the bench the headphones do not stay you kind of have to angle it almost on top of your head so it stays on. but I love hearing the music through the headphones. It does sound a little bit better than the Bose but that could just be me. They are really comfortable. I have a lot of ear piercings so comfort level is really important to me.

They are great quality, noise cancels for the most part and connects to apple iphones automatically once set up is complete! They are not waterproof however you can buy silicone covers on amazon! I wish they were a bit louder but they stay on the head and are very comfortable! I only have needed to charge it once!

Pretty great headphones with some really amazing sound and excellent noise cancellation. The cushions are comfortable, even with my glasses on and for an extended period of time. I can tell that the cushions are going to break down sooner or later, so I’m already looking for replacements.

It has been a very long time since I have had the pleasure of such audio bliss! They are comfortable, and I enjoy how they can recreate a surround sound, fully immersive experience within a headphone. They are exactly as advertised. The reason for 4, rather than 5, stars is that this headphone has no resistance to water, working out, high humidity, etc. I have a set of JVC earbuds worth $50 that have an IP-54 water resistance rating. Yet, Sony is unable to build any resistance into a set of professional quality headphones you can safely work out in? If not for the high sound quality and comfortable build of the unit, it would have cast you 2 stars

Coming from Bose QC35ii, the XM5’s had equal or better active noise cancellation (ANC) and much better bass & low frequency audio - not overly bass heavy, but enough to realize the XM5’s sound great and the QC35ii’s really don’t have that much bass & low end. Sony utilizes photo mapping your ears with your smartphone to custom tune the sound and their “360 Reality Audio” seems to be their version of spatial audio to give a much wider soundstage. It works well. One item to consider is using an audio “digital-to-analog” converter (DAC). Doing so really helps the XM5’s reach their full potential, but they also do daily well by themselves, wireless or wired. Sony’s done a nice job with them. I recommend the XM5’s. Are they perfect? No. But at their regular price point, they do a good job. And if they’re on sale, better yet.

best headphones i’ve owned. the noise cancelling is excellent and the battery life is very long. the sound quality is also amazing. the only minor thing is that they get slightly unco to wear after a long period of time, for me it’s on the top of my head where the band is. other than that, i use them daily and they’re my favorite headphones i’ve owned
