I’m honestly disappointed with the Sony WH-CH720N headphones. While the noise canceling is decent, the overall build quality feels cheap and overly plastic, lacking the premium durability I expected from Sony. They don’t fold into a compact shape, making them bulky and inconvenient for travel, and the lack of "wear detection" to auto-pause music when I take them off is a major frustration. For the price, they feel like a budget product rather than a mid-range one, and I don't find them worth the investment.

For anyone moving from a basic headset, the sound quality of these Sony WH-CH720N headphones is a significant step up. The audio is clear and immersive, making music and games a joy to listen to. The noise cancellation is also quite effective, especially for the price point. One of the main reasons I chose these headphones was for the ability to use noise cancellation while wired, and it works as advertised, which is a big plus for me when I need to focus at my desk. However, my experience has been hampered by a few significant issues. The biggest disappointment is that the built-in microphone does not work when the headphones are plugged into my PC. According to Sony's official help guide, when using the supplied headphone cable, you must use your phone's microphone for calls. This forces me to rely on my laptop's microphone, which thankfully is decent, but it defeats the purpose of having a headset with an integrated mic. This is a crucial detail that I wish was more clearly advertised. Another issue I've encountered is a persistent static noise when the headphones are plugged into my phone. The static is so loud that it overpowers any audio, making the wired mode on my phone unusable. This problem doesn't occur with my other headsets, so it seems to be specific to these Sony headphones. Furthermore, when using the active noise cancellation in wired mode with my laptop, there is a noticeable clicking sound every few seconds. This clicking is only audible when no audio is playing, but as someone who bought noise-canceling headphones to eliminate distracting noises while reading or working in silence, this is a major drawback. It forces me to either turn off the noise-cancellation feature or endure the distracting clicking. In conclusion, while the sound quality and noise cancellation are impressive for the price, the limitations and issues with the wired mode are significant. If you plan to use these headphones primarily via Bluetooth, you will likely be very happy with them. However, if you need a reliable wired headset with a functional microphone and flawless noise cancellation for quiet environments, you may want to consider other options.

Really comfy, great sound. But you should pass on this purchase. The headphones only work if you download an app and leave it open the whole time you use them. And they disconnect for devices contstantly. In 30 minutes I’ve had them disconnect at least 4 times. Its ridiculous. And when they disconnect the device continues playing whatever youre listening to…very awkward at work to start blaring music from your desk suddenly and multiple times in a row. Unreliable and just not worth it.

You can use the WHCH720N headphones without connecting them to the Sony Headphone| Connect app. This headphones will still work as regular Bluetooth headphones and use them to listen music, make phone calls, and user other audio features.

Bluetooth communications may be disabled, or noise or audio dropout may occur under the following conditions.
When there is a human body between the headset and the Bluetooth device
When this is the case, turn the Bluetooth device to face the same direction as the antenna of the headset to improve the Bluetooth communications.
When there is an obstacle, such as metal or a wall, between the headset and the Bluetooth device
In places with wireless LAN, where a microwave oven is used, electromagnetic waves are generated, etc.
Where there are other wireless communication audio devices or other people nearby, such as in train station premises or on a crowded train.
Please try some solutions on this link to troubleshoot Bluetooth connection issues with the headphones:

The headphones are fine. They have a good sound quality, battery lasts a lot and the noise cancellation works (not as good as the xm4s). What I don't like is that they have sound leak because I can't use them around other people without them hearing the songs I'm listening to. They do their job, but I think I could have found a similar product for cheaper.

Hi MarT,
Thank you for telling us about your experience with your WH-CH720N headphones. While we're glad that you like most of the features, we're sorry to hear you are having some sound leakage issues when listening with these headphones. Your feedback is extremely important to us and is very much appreciated. With closed-back and over-the-ear design of these headphones, you can ensure that the sound leakage should be very minimal. However, in a quiet room, some degree of sound leakage may still occur depending on individual factors such as fit and the volume at which you are listening to your music or other audio. To prevent sound leakage, make sure to adjust the slider to find your ideal fit and enjoy hours of comfortable listening. Additionally, reducing the volume level can also help to minimize sound leakage.

Honestly, I dont hate them, I use them for my ps5, I got them because they came with a aux cord, and they work great, but for the price I payed I’m disappointed in the quality. They feel like 25 JBL headphones. And that’s no shade on JBL, love their sound systems, but they feel cheap and I went for these thinking they would feel higher quality

The headphones are okay but not what my son really wanted. He has a few issues with the equalization and noise canceling and the microphone but I had no idea Best Buy had such a small return window! 15 days! I bought these for my son's birthday so they were bought early and not returnable. Now that I know that, I will not be buying anymore high ticket items from Best Buy in the future. These were expensive enough that I should have been able to at least exchange for store credit so my son could have gotten a different pair since he isn't happy with them. Terrible customer service for expensive items. Buy somewhere else!!

I had this for all of one day before deciding that it had to be returned. Making sure they were fully charged, updated with the latest firmware and then repaired to my phone, they still would not stop dropping the connection. When switched the sound from prioritizing quality to stability and it still randomly did it. A chime would kick in indicating that connection had been lost and it would immediately reconnect but this stopped sound playback and worse, did not automatically resume it after reconnecting. I came in and got the Soundcore Q45s instead. They haven't dropped once and have LDAC as a codec option.

The sound quality is decent, nothing spectacular. But, the microphone is Trash. What little sound can be heard, comes out like you're talking from across a room. Also, it doors not allow you to sybc to multiple devices . I use my computer with several phones and it was only able to be paired to one device at a time. And let's be clear, not anticipating being able to connect to multiple devices at one time. But like any outher headset , able to be paired to as many devices as i choose. However, I had to forget the headset on one device to use it on another. Too much hassle and not worth the price. If you're purchasing solely for listening, would mildly recommend, but the seller should seriously lower the price first. But for mic and speaking, pick something else.

We bought this for an employee in our office who needed some new headphones for their work and calls they do. We were hoping for a simple solution at a reasonable price. So we weren’t expecting anything amazing. However we are consistently having issues where it drops Bluetooth connection during a call which is highly annoying. It happens more often then we would like. The mic on the phones are also below average for sure. Overall we’re not very happy about our purchase and have since purchased new headphones for her.

These may work for some people, but they didn't work for me. The main issue was that they were just straight up uncomfortable. They are light, but something was causing pain on the right side of my head. It may have been that the cups are shallow, so if they are not positioned just right, the inner workings can poke you in the ear. BTW, I have small and flat ears, so I imagine average sized ears would have the same problem. They also did feel pretty cheap, but I was mainly going to wear them in my home office for work, so I wasn't worried about durability. But I couldn't wear them for more than 10 minutes without feeling discomfort, which is a showstopper. I returned these and got the Bose QC45 headphones. If comfort is your top priority, the Bose QC45s are much better (also more expensive).

Hi Watson,
Thank you for time writing this review. We're sorry to hear we were not able to meet your expectations with the WHCH720N headphones. Allow us to help make this a better experience. If you feel discomforts while wearing the unit, put on the headset with the earpads fitting snugly over your ears, adjust the slider to a length where the headband touches the top of your head and adjust the orientation of the left and right units so that the earpads fit snugly all around your ears. If you put on the headset without adjusting the slider, the headset may not be positioned properly on your head, resulting in discomfort or a weak noise canceling effect.
