Yes. I have the same issue and that is why I bought it. It's comparable to a fan but blows cooler air. We still end up using the ceiling fan too since the room is far from the a/c.

Don't depends on the mist because it comes out little bit not enough to cool your room. Fill the water to the minimum level and fill it all with ice that the only way to cool your rooms

This is evaporative cooler not a portable air conditioner

the 5 l is adequate. if you want to double the cooling effect, buy an ultrasonic cool mist humidifier .5 or 1gal and place it to either side of the vent. turn it on and you get double cooling effect
