This uhd blu ray is no doubt the only version to have for anybody who is a fan of this movie. It is also a fabulous movie to check out for 1st time buyers. The story line still holds up and the acting is top of the line. Now let’s discuss picture quality. The visuals in some scenes can be so crisp, a person may think they were watching on the set location footage from 1960. It can really border on photorealism in some scenes it’s so clear. My biggest gripe is probably some videophiles biggest pleasure as I belong to the camp who prefers zero film grain. There is a substantial amount of grain In the sky scenes mainly but even with noise reduction maxed out, I cannot get rid of it but the crisp photorealism can still shine if your preference is like me about zero film grain. For those who are fans and admirers of film grain, this should only enhance your experience. The Boot Hill scene from scene 2 exhibits how this movies shines for both crisp photorealism admirers and admirers of film grain alike. The quality is top of the line with how crisp and clear the movie is. Whether it is the standing still shots of the 2 cowboys outside of the store watching the 3 villagers ride in on horseback, the movement of people walking and interacting, to the iconic horse and buggy hearse scene with Brenner and McQueen, the scenes are crisp and the grain is displayed reminding film admirers of the days when fun, enjoyable films like this were in their prime. I drove over an hour to buy this movie and still enjoy checking it out and taking in the brilliance and how clear some of these scenes are.

When looking back at the golden era of Westerns, The Magnificent Seven is hard to overlook. Adapted from Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai, the movie exchanges swords with guns but leaves the plot almost completely intact. Yule Brenner plays the charismatic leader of a ragtag posse of gunslingers he recruits to protect a village from bandits lead by Eli Wallach. The 4k transfer is top notch over previous blu ray offerings and the image is cleaned up of any of the typical scratches and dirt from old source materials. A healthy amount of film grain is present, colors are more accurate and black levels deeper thanks to a new Dolby Vision and HDR color grade. I would highly recommend upgrading if you already own this film on previous home media or if this is your first time purchasing this title!

A great western remake of the even greater film, The Seven Samurai. Brynner's best movie. Excellent cast. Love the bluray cover art. Thumbs up, Shout.

Outstanding edition! I just cannot get over how good this movie looks and sounds now. Thank you, Shout Factory for such an amazing job on the restoration, etc. on this fabulous western from 1960! There are several audio options to choose from in the Setup part of the menu. Easy selections. I watched this on my Sony 4K TV and player with Soundbar. I saw details I had not seen before. Outstanding cast from 1960. Retire that previous Blu-ray now, it doesn't even compare. The Blu-ray and 4K discs have nice artwork on them, with a great slipcover. Get it now before the slipcover disappears. Highly recommended for all fans of Westerns!
Shout Factory never goes wrong with 4K. Excellent transfer of this Classic film.
