The Meters - Cabbage Alley - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Get down to the funk with InchCabbage Alley,Inch the groundbreaking 1972 album by The Meters and their first on Reprise Records after leaving Josie. Hailing from the soggy streets of New Orleans, The Meters helped invent the 'second line groove' and shaped the sound of funk like no one else-except maybe James Brown. InchCabbage AlleyInch blends raw New Orleans rhythms with psychedelic soul, Caribbean flair, and bluesy, chicken-scratch guitars. Art Neville's unmistakable keys, hypnotic drum breaks, deep basslines, and Southern singalong choruses showcase a band functioning as one unified rhythm section. This bold, fearless evolution in their sound proves once again why The Meters are among the finest, rawest funk groups around. Whether you're a longtime fan or just discovering the roots of funk, InchCabbage AlleyInch is essential listening.
