In the late '90s, former wrestler Mark Kerr (Dwayne Johnson) was a rising talent in the emerging sport of mixed martial arts. Signing with the Japanese promotion Pride FC, he'd ascend the ranks as he demolished opponents-but the onset of a dependency on painkillers coupled with the troubled bond he shared with girlfriend Dawn Staples (Emily Blunt) would dim his star.
