A: It is a dash cam, it is intended to capture everything in front of your car, all the time. It has no swivel, and only adjusts up and down, so it can be aimed beyond your hood. You can check the video on your computer, to make sure it's pointed correctly, and then leave it set there.
A: If you buy the hardwired kit, this cam will record in parking mode.
Q: dash cam beeps periodically when driving on interstate. Why??
A: Hi Drew. The alerts you are referring to is likely from the impact sensor. When an impact is detected, the dash cam has alerts intended to notify users that the dash cam has switched from Continuous Recording Mode to Incident Recording Mode. To lower the frequency of these alerts, you can lower the sensitivity of the sensor by inserting the MicroSD card to your PC and adjusting the "Cont. Sensitivity" feature on the PC Viewer. Q: Does the camera need to be plugged in continuously? If not, how long does the battery last?
A: I leave mine plugged in. It only draws electricity when the vehicle is started with a voice prompt and green led to let you know unless you buy the hardwire kit for $30 and connect it to your fuse box. The F50 does not have a battery. Hope this helps.
A: Hi there! If the dash cam is properly hardwired, it will not drain your car battery. Like the rest of our models, the F50 has several features to prevent battery drainage in Parking Surveillance Mode such as a built-in voltmeter and Off-Voltage setting, which prompts shutdown if voltage levels drop below the pre-set threshold. A: I'm not sure how other dashcams work but the Thinkware F50 dashcam I have records video in 1 minute increments. I have a 64 GB memory card which will record 496 minutes of video so it would take a long time to get to the file to overwrite it even with the 8 GB card that comes with the unit. It also has a G-sensor, that when activated (such as when in an accident) will lock the video so it is not overwritten.
Q: Will this camera record while the car is parked and unattened?
A: Only if your car lighter that the camera is plugged into stays on while you are parked. But if your lighter ports cut off while the car is off, it will not record
