Q: Does it work even if the lamp isn’t plugged in to electricity?
A: It will bit you do need some power source. Hamster wheels work ok but personally I’ve trained my poodles to push a small stick in front of them while walking in circles. Whatever you choose, make sure to feed your animals regularly or they won’t be able to keep the lights on.
A: I could not find the brightness rating on the Kasa web site, but according to techhive this bulb (the KL50) produces 600 lumens. That's the equivalent of a 45W conventional light bulb.
Q: Can this bulb be used outside in a light fixture ?
A: The bulb is designed for indoor use; not outdoor. However, as long as the environment remains sheltered from the elements and within the following specifications, it should work: Operating Temperature: -15 ºC~ 40 ºC (5°F ~ 104°F ) Operating Humidity: 10%~90% RH, Non-condensing Regards, TP-Link Support
Q: Do I need to have a special kind of plug for this light bulb?
A: No, just screw it in light any other bulb.
A: WIFI problem. I had 3 of these in one fixture before and they would constantly drop off my network.
Q: Are they bright enough to be used in a covered dome light fixture?
A: Yes - however that would depend on how you define what is bright enough for your needs. The KL50 Kas Smart Bulb has an Incandescent Wattage Equivalent to that of a 40 watt bulb, producing 600 lumens.
Q: 1. Does this record or just live stream? 2. Does it record/stream audio as well?
A: This is not a camera, it is only a smart light bulb controlled through the Kasa app and integrating with Alexa/Google. So it does not record anything.
A: I'd purchase a fixture with your lighting solution and put in a HS-200 and replace the actual switch. I tried the smart bulb in a fixture and it wasn't very bright, and very difficult to set-up. I wound up installing HS-200's for all my ceiling lights and use these bulbs in my end table lamps.
