Coming from the Megablast I was a bit skeptical before purchase. For some odd reason, the Megablast stopped working out of nowhere and man was I sad. I had been keeping up with the new versions coming out, the one before this being super huge was not convenient for carrying around so I did not pull the trigger on purchasing it. I was even disappointed that I no longer had the Alexa feature to look forward to. But in the words of LL Cool J, "I can't live without my radio" and the day came when I couldn't take it any longer having no speaker to blast my tunes with. I was going to go ahead and get the big bulky blaster with the crazy price tag. I rushed to Best Buy with only a half hour left and looked on the shelf to play around with the big speaker. That's when I saw this one, the Epic Boom with the perfect size. I checked the pricing and it was a bit cheaper than the monster version. I pressed the demo button to hear if the sound was comparable to my old favorite the MegaBlast. Oh my goodness it sounded crappy. I said to myself no way this is their new model and it sounds worse than the priors. I carefully started reading the box to find out about all these wonderful features but it just did not make sense. I had not much time left til closing time and said to myself "Well, I guess I will take it just to have something to listen to my music on". I reached down to the shelf to find there was no more there. I wanted to shed tears at this point. A representative walked over to remind me the store was closing soon and I asked do you have this model in the back. She looked it up and yes, there was one left in the store somewhere. I hesitantly told her to go get it and I will make the purchase. After leaving the store I decided to open the box in the car to hear the model once more. The device was dead and nothing happened on the button press. I rode back home and sat the box on the bed thinking the whole time, that maybe I should just return it and get the huge one, at least it would sound better than what I had heard in the store. It took. me hours to decide if I was going to open the box and charge up the device. I talked myself into breaking open the package and went through the routine of setting up and plugging in chords for charging. The device made no peep nor did an indication of led lights show up. I was now upset, I paid for a defect I thought. I walked away from the thing and went outside for some cool off the anger time. A few hours went by and I returned to the room to see there was now a light. I pressed the on button and the familiar sound of it turning on just like the Megablast was what I heard. I may be wrong here but I could have sworn my Apple phone began giving instructions on how to download the device's software and firmware updates. I jumped in every turn to make sure the setup was correct. Once finished I now had the opportunity to listen to the music and man oh man the sound was incredible. This device sounds way better than my old favorite. I do not know how the company made something that was this good, better than ever. I rocked out all night and did not even turn it off to sleep. This is one amazing speaker. The new features are pretty decent as well. I do miss the Alexa feature though it did not work correctly all the time. With Alexa, you were able to sit with friends and family and play games when you tire from music listening. That is the only reason I left out one star. Overall this speaker is worth the purchase. You can carry it anywhere, throw it in the drink, and let it auto-adjust sound to its atmosphere. The workers at Best Buy should be trained to set these features up on store demos because at first, I was going to pass it up because of the crappy sound. They did not adjust anything and just sat it on the shelf.

The Epicboom is the only speaker you need for parties. While it may be compact compared to most party speakers it's sound is immense Set up is incredibly simple. The NFC pad on top makes pairing really easy. Unlike most speakers you don't need to worry about making sure a previously paired device has BT disabled, just tap the new phone. Makes jumping around easier This speaker is so loud. The 360 speaker carries sound throughout both indoors and out. If you are outdoors, you can hit the tree for that extra outdoor boost bump. Should you have additional Ultimate Ears speakers, you can link those within the App. The app easily finds the speaker when it is on, and can find other ones nearby to link. You have some slight EQ adjustments which is pretty nice depending on what you're listening to. Well it's has the ability to load playlist from your streaming apps one downside is that they only have Spotify and Amazon music. It would be nice if there was support for YouTube music. The speaker is a little heavy but the strap is heavy duty so if you do want to hang it somewhere you can be confident that it's not going to fall. The range is so large, 55 m, that if you are say camping or out at the beach, you can walk a fair bit away without worrying that you're going to ruin the fun for everyone With 17 hours of battery it's more than enough for a weekend out without having to worry about needing a recharge but if you do it charges fairly quickly with its USB-c to USB-C cable IP67 waterproof means in the event of poor weather you can worry about cleaning up your more sensitive items first and letting this sit out. Overall, a very capable speaker that has expandability with additional speakers should you need more with a sound so full in all directions Many features in the app but would be nice if Playlists had more streaming services

I'm familiar with the "Ultimate Ears" brand as I owned the UE 9000 headphones in the past. They were amazing until I managed to break the headband. To this day, I miss the sound signature of those headphones. The EPICBOOM, while obviously not headphones, is a worth entrant that reminds me of the UE 9000's. Sound quality is the foundation of the Ultimate Ears brand, which is why Logitech bought them long ago, but I digress. This speaker is big and packs a bigger punch! I'm not certain of how many individual speakers it has, but suffice to say it brings a full sound stage to a comparatively small package. I have been using this in my garage and on the back deck. The sound doesn't have any trouble filling the garage or deck as it has an authoritative presence when cranked up. The "outdoor" button adds even more body and fullness to the sound, making it an ideal speaker for a small gathering or BBQ. It's water-resistance, while not tested by me, promises to continue the rugged outdoor use reputation built by the line of Boom speakers.I would have no concerns if it fell into the pool or got stuck in the rain. It's water resistance is class-leading and confidence-inspiring. In summary, the EPICBOOM is, well, pretty epic. I docked one star because at the MSRP of $349, it's competing in a tough premium portable speaker market, which includes the top-tier Sonos Move. The Sonos has an even more authoritative sound profile, but in all fairness is more intended for indoors and non-rugged outdoor use. If I had to do it all over again, I would still purchase this, given the overall feature-set, but wish the sound was on the same level as the Sonos. But for a rugged speaker that can be used in any environment, the EPICBOOM lives up to it's name.

A well-rounded speaker! Battery life could be a touch better and it is still a bit on the pricey side but I don't regret it at all!

This is a nice sounding bluetooth speaker. Just the right size and gets plenty loud. The app is pretty friendly and helps with the pairing process, which is pretty straight forward. I had no issues connecting, customizing and playing music. Charging was simple, use the included white usb-c cable or any usb-c cable. No charging brick is included. The included cable is usb-c on both ends, by the way. The sound is full, 360 in direction and this unit benefits being next to a flat object to help project the sound. Kind of like corner loading a subwoofer. It just helps boost the sound. I have enjoyed using this speaker and it has almost made forget about my much larger speaker that has to be rolled around or carried to places. I said almost because any bass heavy music reveals its wekness because of its size. I have had to adjust the EQ bass down so the speakers dont bottom out (or sound like they are). Overall, I am pretty impressed and will use this speaker quite often, especially around the pool in the summer! Nice speaker!

UE's Boom series speakers have been a favorite of mine for some time now. For years, the WonderBoom served as my bathroom speaker and the MegaBoom as my outdoor/ poolside speaker. I've long been a fan of the rugged design, waterproof nature, and perfectly acceptable sound performance. The MegaBoom certainly has its limitations when it comes to an outdoor speaker; enter the EpicBoom. At nearly twice the size (width, really), it's chonky to be sure. It has a ruggedized base with a speckled finish that almost makes it look dirty. The top is covered in mesh with prominent volume up/down controls on the front (as is typical for UE speakers), and the top sports a matte rubberized finish with four buttons and an NFC pairing indicator. The speaker also has an integrated strap connected on the back, securing via magnet toward the bottom when not in use. The charging port is also on the back, near the bottom, which has a water-tight seal (and yes, it floats, I tested it in the pool). In the box you get a USB-C charging cable with the speaker. That's it. No charging brick, I gather because UE assumes you already have thirty of them. But for a speaker with a battery of this size, I'd like to see some sort of fast charging brick included (it takes forever to charge). Speaker performace is... perfectly acceptable, just like other UE speakers. It's not going to blow your socks off with huge dynamic range, but it makes a good, loud party speaker. If you like bass-heavy music, that is where it seems to do best at louder volumes; at max volume, treble and higher frequencies tend to overwhelm the speaker to the point where some of the sound is actually lost. But it puts out 360 degrees of sound, so placement shouldn't be an issue regardless of your surroundings. Oh, and it floats. That's cool, I guess. I did appreciate that it floats in a way that still allows audio to be produced out of one side, unlike the WonderBoom from years ago. The app experience is a good one, providing a custom EQ to adjust the sound profile to your preference. The Partyup feature continues to be available, for those with multiple Boom speakers. Maybe my favorite feature is the 'magic button' (which isn't magic, by the way), which can be pressed and held even when the speaker is off to activate a specific playlist in Apple or Amazon music. It's a nice touch when you don't have your phone nearby and want go-to jams. The price tag on this one is $349, which is reasonable for a waterproof, rugged outdoor speaker capable of significant volume with a 17-hour battery life (your mileage may vary, of course). At that price range, the only real complaint I have is the exclusion of a charging brick. The audio performance is going to be good for a party/picnic/outdoor gathering in your backyard and provide enough entertainment for all.

The large size of it fills up a normal sized room but as with any portable speakers, it starts to lack the lower end once you start to pump the volume up. The connectivity is easy to do especially with the NFC connection and the Bluetooth connection. I like the black colored cloth with the rubber bottom. It makes it very appealing and stable when sitting on a desk. The attached handle/tie seems very sturdy and the magnetic end is a nice touch to make sure it's flushed onto the speaker when not in use. The sound itself is really not bad at all and it does sound good. I think for medium sized parties, this is plenty of sources to fill up the room. For pool parties and outdoors, this is definitely the speaker you're looking for. You can do more such as EQ if you download the app, but the speakers by itself does a lot out of the box so if you don't want to mess around inside an app, you can still get this. If there was any way to give the lower end a better boost, this would get a 5 star from me.
