Various Artists - Rhythm and Soul: Sweet Love Songs / Various - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Although this isn't a typical southern soul CD, there are no recordings from Memphis or Muscle Shoals, for example - the music here has the feel of being cut below the Mason-Dixon line. These 24 tracks cover all the various soul styles that were fashionable in the Golden Age, from the slowest ballads to out & out funk. Superb tracks from artists like Betty Bibbs, Tommy Youngblood, Johnny Copeland, Vernon Garrett, ZZ Hill, & many more. 24 re-mastered tracks plus a 12-page booklet with photos & notes on each of the artists presented here.
