About this product
Dr. Kristina Nikolic writes InchEven though I follow Don Menza whenever he is on tour in Europe and have witnessed the magic of his concerts countless times, never have I believed that recording an album could be such a relaxing, loving and seemingly effortless occasion. After a couple of weeks on the road, this quartet managed once again (in less than four hours) to preserve on tape what they had been doing together on the bandstand for many years playing jazz that will touch any soul that is willing to listen. Together with Oliver Kent, Johannes Strasser and Bernd Reiter, all amazing musicians themselves, a self-confessed hopeless romantic Don Menza succeeded, with exceptional honesty, to record eight songs which reflect his beliefs. In this age of Jazz where the brain is often more important than the heart, this album stands out for it's ability to break your heart, make you laugh, make you feel cool, brave, to energize and inspire you.Inch

This RomanceInch album contains a selection of popular tunes and encores that I am often asked to perform in my concerts. I have been incredibly lucky to perform all over the world, hence the inclusion of popular songs in Chinese, Japanese and Korean. My accompanist on this record is my soul-mate - the sensitive and excellent pianist Adrian Farmer - with whom I have shared many happy hours of music-making all over the world, including those we have experienced in the recording studio together. Some composers - Mendelssohn, Poulenc and Hahn - have particular connections to my family, as of course does my ancestor Mathilde de Rothschild. Other songs have been with me all my life, I learnt Brahms's Vergebliches Ständchen long ago while a student in Salzburg. The remainder, particularly Handel's Lascia ch'io pianga, Schubert's Ave Maria and JJ Niles's I wonder as I wander are included simply because of their immediate and timeless ability to touch the heart of a listener.Inch (Charlotte de Rothschild) Album Tracks 1. Scarborough Fair 2. Danny Boy 3. À Chloris (To Chloris) 4. chemins de l'amour (The paths of love) 5. Vergebliches Ständchen (Serenade in vain) 6. Ave Maria 7. Kanpyo (White Gourds) 8. Trio X is one of Sweden's foremost improvisational groups. The trio's distinctive feature is exploratory and boundary-crossing music, and the experienced musicians find inspiration in many genres. Lennart Simonsson, Per V Johansson, and Joakim Ekberg started collaborating in 2002, and since then they have made several recordings, worked with numerous well-known artists, and toured in Sweden and abroad. Trio X is a multi-faceted ensemble that works with many projects, from concerts in jazz clubs, in concert halls, and at major festivals to classroom appearances. Alongside their public concerts, they also play in healthcare and caring institutions. The musicians also teach and provide inspiration for amateur groups. The present album is a showcase of traditional Swedish melodies. Album Tracks 1. Elsas Brudmarsch 2. Jag Vet en Dejlig Rosa 3. Dalvisa 4. Toktrall 5. Allt Under Himmelens Fäste 6.
