Veronese Design - Father Time Chronos Standing with Child Playing at His Feet - Brown

Chronos, an ancient Greek god, is the namesake of the ancient Greek word for time, forming roots for English words such as `chronological` and `synchronize`. Chronos, in the form of a serpentine beast, was a symbol of the creation and existence of all time. In this remarkably detailed statue, Chronos stands in his personified form as Father Time. He carries in his right hand a scythe, symbolizing his power to end all things. In his left hand, he bears an hourglass which represents his control over an endless chronological cycle. The wings of Chronos, cast with astounding detail, are unfurled in his protective stance, while a young child plays at his feet. This cold cast resin figure measures 10 3/4 inches tall, 5 inches wide and 4 1/4 inches deep, and has a velvet-like liner to prevent scratching delicate surfaces. The bronzed finish of this figure accentuates its exquisite detail. This is a wonderful mythological home accent that will remind you of the interminable cycle of time.
