Look out for the heat sensor near the bottom of this unit that is glass and easily broken. Ours went a couple of weeks before the warranty expired, and the heat light was in all the time and the unit made a buzzing noise. Grateful for the 2 year warranty, saved us a lot of money.

We replaced an 8 year old Jenn Air that re-occurring issues with one of the burners failing... am shocked at what a greater quality the Viking is but at similar price point. Knobs feel solid/ nice stainless steel edging for a clean look.... electric elements heat quickly and evenly.

Let me start by saying that I have used ceramic cooktops for 20+ years. Recently was affected by flood of 2016 and had to rebuild my house. Used Best Buy for my appliances and could not be more satisfied with value and service. Only disappointment is this cooktop. Within 2 weeks of use first scratch was found, within another week another burner scratched. This occurred using new flat bottomed high end cookware. No excessive movement or force placed on cooktop. Viking says it is not covered under warranty. I could understand this in an abuse situation. I asked for them to send an inspector and they refused citing warranty conditions again. Since the cooktop is the most used appliance in a kitchen thought I would get one that would give me good service for years, I guess Viking is not able to provide that level of product.
