For anyone transitioning from a standard Gen 4 or an older Gen 3 drive, the snappiness in OS responsiveness and load times is immediately tactical. I had purchased this drive on December 21st,2025 for $250 out the door. It was on special marked down from $349.99 and even though the specs on my revent gaming PC build were great, I wanted another 2TB drive for storage...its crazy now only a few weeks later this same drive is now listed for $549.99 and I feel prices will just keep going up. I ended up making this drive my main, and the other I had my storage backup for games. Game sizes nowadays are HUGE and a 1TB won't get you more than 5 games of high-end titles nowadays. This SSd does run a tad hot, which the speeds they hit is expected. There's a version of the SN850X mounted inside a thermal spreader from WD, but for 25$ on Amazon, you can get a pretty good one. And the fact that it decreased 20 °C on high load with one, was worth it. This drive is great, but at the current cost of what it's listed, I hesitate to say it is. If.you see it on a great price,snag it,because they will indeed continue to rise Specials happen quite often in the PC world. But this regardless is one of the best NVMe ive used and was agreay buy for exactly what I needed!

I haven’t done any detailed speed testing, but in normal use everything feels fast and responsive. Coming from an older laptop, the difference is very noticeable, especially with loading, installing and opening programs. The 2TB size is also really nice to have because I wanted enough space for creative work and larger files without immediately worrying about storage. So far no complaints. It does exactly what I needed to do and I think with an SSD, that’s kind of the best sign.
