Q: Does this refrigerator ever shut off?

A: Ours ran a lot at first as well, but slowed down a little after it cooled off.

Q: Where does the water come from? Do I need a plumber to install a refrigerator with water dispenser?

A: If you have a water line to the back of the fridge, then no, it's a simple connection. If you don't have the line then they are not too difficult to install if you have some basic tools and skills.

Q: Is this smudge proof stainless steel.

A: The sides are not stainless and have the smudge proof texture, but the front is regular stainless.

Q: Does this fridge ship with the handles off?

A: Fridge was delivered with the handles attached, they were removed by delivery crew to fit through my door ways.

Q: what is the odd shaped container (rounded at one end, and slender at the other) intended for?

A: If you are referring to the "container" at the top of the refrigerator on the right side, it is the water filter.
