I've had this unit since August, reviewing in December. Based in Houston, TX (hot weather!), living in a 1200 sq ft apartment on the top floor. The AC that the apartment came with can't keep up in the summer, so I purchased this unit to supplement it. Before installing, temps in the apartment got up to 77F during the day, the addition of this portable AC keeps it below 73 when in the large open living room. It now resides in my office to beat the heat generated by my workstation PC, and on full blast can keep the office in the mid 60s. Box came banged up pretty bad, but the foam packing kept the unit and accessories in perfect condition. Installation was easy, instructions weren't great but there isn't much to the setup so I figured it out quickly. I had to take a hacksaw to the window shroud to get it to fit in the window, and opted to seal the gaps using marine sealant. The unit is pretty loud regardless of fan setting, so I tend to keep it on high. It's more than enough to keep this one room cold. Only real complaints I have are with the automatic setting, which kicks back in less than a minute after it hits the target temperature. I'm better off running it on a lower fan speed with a set point well below where I expect it to cool to, so that it doesn't turn off for 10 seconds and start back up again.

Inverter unit works well cooling down my fairly large bedroom with many windows in sunny Los Angeles without tripping my ancient breakers. Purchased while i was stuck sitting around in a sweltering leg cast during the broiling Summer— so worth the cost to me/ I’m glad i spent the $ for a quality unit, the noise is tolerable what can you expect/? Otherwise, arrived undamaged despite shipping being delayed twice & I have seen it listed on sale for a lower price elsewhere.

I am ecstatic over this air conditioner! It is incredibly quiet, especially on the lower settings. The thermostat is accurate, too, so I don't have to keep turning it on or off. It is just like central air. Plus, my electric bill for July was $50 less than usual. This a/c pays for itself. A truly excellent machine!
Great product. Highly recommend for the summer heat.

AC errored out after 2 weeks. Whynter service only responds by email and communications take about 24 hours. They tell me to return it to BestBuy and BestBuy says to return it to the manufacture. If the AC works with out issue then it's a great machine, if you have a problem with it, just throw it away and buy a new one because nobody will help you with it.

Hi, I just purchased the Whynter ARC-1030WN portable a/c. In my first day of use, I am getting EL0C error code and the a/c stops airflow. Checked with Whynter, they said it is a compressor line failure, probably got damaged during shipping by UPS. Also I noticed, if the temperature is changed from the a/c, the info in the remote does not update. I also measured the level of noise and found to be 52dB at low fan speed as opposed to what Whynter claims it to be is 42dB. The a/c worked fine and made the room cold as intended but these are the issues I have found so far. Bought it due to dual hose design and inverter technology, but the error code on first day of use is a bummer.

I've only had this for a couple weeks but I'm really enjoying it so far. Its relatively quiet compared to other units i've had and i think it does a good job at keeping my entire apartment cool. Setup was fairly easy, although it came with a bunch of extra parts i wanst sure what to do with. It doesnt fit perfectly in my window (i have awning windows), but i was able to DIY it! The app is also easy to use. Overall, would recommend!

Was honestly a little wary of buying another portable AC unit due to bad experiences in the past, but I’ve been using this for about a month now, and am stunningly pleased with this thing. We’ve got a very weird layout of our place with the kitchen, living room, and one bedroom on our middle floor. It’s about 1000 sq/ft, I’d say, but this thing gets the place ICY within about an hour. The set up is a little tricky, but other than that, I can’t recommend this unit more. It’s also WAY quieter than any other portable ac I’ve ever used.

The window hose is HUGE! It is a FOOT wide and 5” thick. Takes up a lot of room and is ugly as all get-out to look at. Remote doesn’t work half the time. I changed out the batteries. No luck. The remote could not even turn the unit on and off. Much time spent jumping up to change the settings on the unit’s control panel. You can set the unit on high but the unit then decides it should lower it all by itself. Has nothing to do with the temperature. Just goes on and off. There are NO lights on the unit to indicate if it’s on or off. There are NO lights on the remote, either. Really interesting at night when you can’t adjust anything without physically visiting the unit with a flashlight. The remote is confusing - something so simple as to select AIR or FAN. LOW or HIGH requires 5 minutes of study to work the remote correctly. Also, the plug requires both sockets on your wall switch, as it’s so big it overlaps them both. As outlets are at a premium for us, this was not a happy discovery. The temperature display was weird too. Had the setting at 75. Turned on the unit and it displayed 55! The unit did this all on its own with no help from us. The swinging cover is annoying and the cats are fascinated with it. Not safe around curious pets. Had to turn that feature off. Skip this poorly designed and non functioning A/C unit. Not worth the stress and frustration the Whynter manufacturer bestowed upon us.

The Whynter ARC-1030WN 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner** has been a great addition to my master bedroom. It cools quickly and efficiently, even on hot days, and the dual hose setup really makes a difference in performance. The smart Wi-Fi control is easy to use and convenient, especially when managing settings remotely. Overall, it's a solid, well-built unit that delivers strong cooling and great features for the price.

I’ve tried a few different models and brands of portable A/C and this is by far the best. It’s very quiet and has a lot of great features. I recommend it.

The quality of the unit is obvious. The price point, low volume and high cooling capacity, make this portable ac almost perfect. The dual hose design and condenser that does not have to run at full speed are exactly what we wanted.

This is what I rely on during the hot summer days. It works wonderful for my room. Doesn’t bring the power bill up too much.

This unit is the most expensive of 3 portable AC units we own, but it works great. It is quite large, however. It is quiet, has three fan settings, and has a continuous mode so it isn’t cycling in and off and waking you up.

I'm very satisfied with the item. I have asthma and it has improved the air quality and it has made a big difference in my breathing

Efficient air conditioner. Quickly cooled down a 300 square foot room. The auto feature is excellent and managed to maintain consistent temperature during operation.

Ive had the unit for about 2 weeks and it works really well, but my biggest issue is when the unit is on there seems to be a really agressive plastic sounding vibration. Tried leveling it and putting fatigue mats underneath but seems like a build quality issue. Hopefully it will go away with consistent use.

Works great so far with no issues, can’t complain.
