Too bad it's discontinued (late 2014) !
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI only write reviews after I've used a product a couple of months, so I can be confident of my assessment. Bought the "NS-15AT10 Insignia 10.1 Flex Tablet" in Dec 2014, it's now Feb 2015 -- and I doubt you can find these in any BestBuy store now, it's been discontinued. Too bad, it's an excellent value. If you can find one on Clearance in a BestBuy store, and you want to try out a 10" tablet, get it. This is the 2014 model: NS-15AT10 . There was a previous model (NS-14T004) which doesn't measure up to the NS-15AT10, in many ways. The NS-15AT10 has features that rival or beat the name-brand tablets at 5x the price, at least during 2014. It's not a dedicated gaming device and doesn't match theater-quality "retina" tablets -- if those are important to you, and price is no object, then look elsewhere. But those aren't my requirements, and I couldn't justify spending $500+ for those features. NS-15AT10 Insignia 10.1 Flex Tablet: HDMI port (!) Quad-core 2GHz processor Android 4.4.2 1280x800 screen resolution 16GB internal storage 1GB RAM microSD card slot Bluetooth Front camera: 1.9 mpix, Rear camera: 5 mpix Sensors: Gyroscope, Light, Accelerometer, Magnetic field, Gravity, Acceleration GPS About the only thing I'd like to see is an LED flash for the rear camera (not so much for picture-taking, since a large tablet wouldn't be used much for that -- but for the "flashlight" ability). Would also be nice to have NFC, but Bluetooth is fine for nearby transfers. I haven't had any issues with WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth, or any of the sensors. Battery life is good; I haven't timed it but I've certainly gone over 8 hours of use. I object to some of the restrictions that Android 4.4 puts on user access to external memory, but that's hardly Insignia's fault. I'm very pleased with the tablet, definitely got my money's worth.

Great Value
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendPurchased for an older family member as an entry tablet. The larger screen size is easy on the eyes, easy to see in most angles, OS is responsive and thus far after three weeks have no complaints. Output options are adequate.

Good budget tablet.
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI own the 8 and 10 inch versions of this tablet. When I first turned the 10 inch table on, it took me thru a few basic set up procedures. However, I couldn't get the time to automatically set, even though I checked the box to do this. I thought if I got online the time would set itself, but it didn't. I had to set it manually. I also had to select the time zone I was in so it would keep the correct time. The 8 inch version of this tablet did all of that automatically. Other than that, I really enjoy this 10 inch tablet. It's really easy to use, and surfing the internet is great. The only negative is the wi fi signal strength indicator. You need a strong signal. I'm sitting approximately 35 feet away from my router, with no obstructions, and the signal strength on the tablet fluctuates from full bars to 1 bar depending on how I hold the tablet. I don't have this problem with the 8 inch version. I'm guessing the antennae in the 8 inch version is better, or is situated in a better place inside the tablet.

does what expected
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWhen I bought this I wasn't expecting a 600 dollar tablet. I usually just read email, surf the web, read books, and read comic books. It does all that excellently.

Excellent specs, VG performance & build
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendYou won't find a name brand tablet with these specs (quad core, HDMI, 5 mp camera and Android 4.4) for less than $300. This model (don't confuse it with the older Insignia 14T004) compares with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 or the iPad 2 or 3). The display is a 720p display which is VG. For those who might be thinking that their TV is 1080p and they don't want anything less, keep in mind that a lot of content is only 720p anyway. I'm coming from an iPhone & iPad which typically have a warmer color (more to the red) while the Insignia (and the iPhone 6) and many/most other tablets have a cooler color balance. It took me a little while to get used to the color balance but it produces an excellent picture. I never could figure out why phone & tablet manufacturers don't provide the ability to adjust the picture (color/contrast, etc.) like you can on a LCD/LED TV. Like almost all phones/tablets, the speakers don't put out enough power to listen to videos or music without earphones or an external speaker. The build quality appears to be very good but not excellent. The ON/OFF switch is too close to the volume up rocker switch which will take some getting used to and the USB/Power port and the HDMI port could be marked better to distinguish them. Like most screens, you will need a screen protector to prevent excessive finger prints/smudges on the display. Everything worked as expected out of the box and setup was quick. One of my "must have" specs was Kit Kat 4.4 which supports Google mirroring (might be called screen cast on other tablets) which this Insignia has. I have a Samsung smart TV which supports screen mirroring and the Insignia was easy to setup for mirroring and worked very well. With the mirroring, anything which showed on the tablet was displayed on the TV unlike the iPads where some content is blocked and you need Apple TV. With this feature as an example, I can access Comcast on demand on the tablet and watch the show on my TV. There was the slightest jitter on the TV display which you had to look for to notice. I think that I need a faster wireless router to prevent this because I think that the video goes through the router twice (internet -> router -> tablet -> router -> TV). Noticeable build quality issues were minor. The cutouts for the HDMI & USB ports in the case weren't as clean cut as could be, on some screens there was only the slightest cut off of the image on the very edge (not noticeable). The touch screen was very responsive and in most cases you could scroll or switch screens with no jitters or delays.

love it
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendIt has a nice responsive screen to it and very clear picture. Takes nice pictures on it for the price. It has Google Play which is nice, but I also downloaded Amazon App Store as well. It has stopped a couple of times, but not sure why. I think increasing the external Micro SD card will help with that, at least I hope. My kids love it as well. I plan on getting the Wacom Pen (Fine tip) for it as well. I spoke with the sales rep and he said it will work for this tablet. I have had no problems with staying connected to Wi-Fi, as of yet. For me, it's great. Has a nice size screen, very clear picture, many available apps.

Decent starter tablet
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendIt's a decent starter tablet or tablet for kids but definitely not a "high-end" tablet. image quality is good, set up was easy enough by syncing with gmail, and even the amazon apps work well with it. it's a tad on the heavier side of tablets but that's actually not a bad thing when its in the hands of my 5 year old who has become the main user of the tablet. the screen has enough real estate to make the learning apps easy enough to see and use. the only real issues I've had with it have been that it got a little warm with heavy use, and with an app that made camera crash and require factory reset but Insignia support was VERY helpful with that.

Great Tablet
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendVery fast, doesn't lock up. Good price for the specs. Bought it to replace another tablet that kept locking up and went very slow. Love it!
Q: QuestionHave you improved the speakers from the previous model?Lots of bad reviews on the quality and loudness of the speakers on the previous model. Did you make an improvement in them with this model.
Asked by HTP47.
- A:Answer These units have been redesigned, and do have different speakers than the previous version. I would suggest going into the store and playing with the display model, since personal preference will be your best option to decide.

Q: QuestionDoes this tablet have the multiple user feature or is it disabled?I am wondering if this table still has the multiple user option available or if it has been removed as an option on this tablet. It would be found specifically under "device" then "users". I've seen this removed from a lot of tablets.
Asked by kondich.
- A:Answer I believe the Android version that comes on the tablet does not support multi user, but when the next Android upgrade rolls out that feature is supposed to be supported from what I remember.
