This Disney animated classic is based on the children's story by Dodie Smith. The story involves the canine pets of a struggling composer and his wife: Dalmatians Pongo (male) and Perdita (female). Perdita gives birth to fifteen spotted pups, cuing the entrance of the scheming Cruella De Vil. She demands that the dogs' owners sell her the pups, but she is shown the door instead. Under cover of night, Cruella arranges for the pups to be stolen. The human police are baffled, but the "dog network" is alerted by Pongo and sent to rescue the pups. It is discovered that Cruella has been rounding up every Dalmatian she can get her hands on, hoping to use their pelts to make one spectacular fur coat. The dogs rescue the 15 pups, plus 86 others stolen by Ms. DeVil. After an eventful escape, the 101 Dalmatians make their way home--whereupon the composer pens a hit tune, "Dalmatian Plantation". 101 Dalmatians represents the Disney animation staff at its very best, and as a bonus introduces the world to Cruella De Vil, one of the greatest movie villains--cartoon or "real"--of all time.~Hal Erickson

A must have as a Dal owner!

Yes it is a drag to always have to upgrade/buy new formats of the same movie, but in the world of today this is our new norm. It’s the new business model and unfortunately (or fortunately depending on where you stand) technology will continually improve and require us to upgrade our movies. Ever try to play a VHS on the new smart TVs of today? The image quality is horrible. That being said, and once your able to swallow that reality, this is a classic movie and a must have for any Disney fan or Dal owner. For a movie made in the 60’s the artists did a great job capturing the beauty of the breed and of course Disney’s classic story telling doesn’t disappoint.
Gosh. I misses this a movie for a longest time. Since the original old video (tape) that type a time. Until now it's malfunction it turn into the Blu-Ray/DvD formats; it's pretty good as really very nice how show the navigate with vision image motions are cool as fitted the plain colorful. Especially, the subtitle... pretty very basic simple, but unsure that something missed parts... since when they were reversed the products in this Blu-ray/DVD. Hard to remembered what I recalled from old original one which the exact ways how they speaking each the words and sentences as matched the closed caption.
This Signature Collection Blu-ray copy of 101 Dalmatians is an amazing version of the Disney classic. The picture and audio quality is about as good as you can get for roughly 60 year old movie, and the disc is loaded with a bunch of interesting bonus features for those super into the film. Add in a digital copy and a spare DVD, and this is a great package, particularly if you are a collector keen on owning the movie rather than just streaming it on Disney+. Especially at sale price, this is a smart buy for fans of 101 Dalmatians.
There’s a viewing mode called DisneyView and it fills in the extra black sided since this was made in 4:3 aspect ratio. This made watching this classic so much more enjoyable! A great buy to add to your collection.
Everything these days are digital downloads or monthly subscription, why not hand down something to your kids they can replay and relive the classics?
