First, be warned: These are the films only. There are no language options, subtitles, special features, etc.. When you choose; it goes straight to the movie. These are 2 classic Harryhausen 50s sci-fi movies. They were both released by Columbia(now Sony) Studios. It shows Mr. Harryhausen's skills as a "stop motion" artist to his fullest. The picture is a nice mastering; both are b & w, but, the images are nice and sharp. I have "20 Million Miles to Earth" on a 2-disc special edition DVD; this has all the features, documentaries, commentary, etc.. that are not here. But, it is at the DVD resolution; these are complementary to each other; one does not replace the other. I am not certain if "It Came from Beneath" was available on DVD or VHS videotape at all. Both films are also classic examples of low-budget films at their best and imaginative. "It Came from Beneath" does use some great sets; several scenes are set in, and, on a submarine. The studio apparently got permission to use an actual sub for these. However, a couple of scenes show that they used existing footage(a standard practice to cut costs; it is still being done today) for the movie. Check the scene when the monster attacks a waterfront warehouse, and the traffic on the street. Well, I did say this is a low- budget film. The stories still hold up, though, and, so do the special effects for the most part. Ray Harryhausen learned from the best in his field and always cared about his audience. For those who love these old films, I can recommend this Two-pack(that it was in the Best Buy Blu-ray bargain bin was a definite plus) without any hesitation. For others, who want to see what the fuss is; you won't spend a lot to get them; and, you get to see some interesting and fun movies. Ray was a great artist, and, these show off his work beautifully. And, you can see how even a low-budget movie is still great entertainment. Highly recommended!

Ray Harryhausen stop motion effects were the gold standard long before CGI took over film. When you realize they time and effort it took to achieve the effects it makes them all the more amazing. Two great films for the price of one low price, Truly a "Best Buy" .

I remember watching all these old movies on television at dinner time with my parents. They are somewhat hokey but they are a lot of fun. They did a good job without all the effects we have today.
