Description
Though best known as the longest-running correspondent on CBS's 60 Minutes - a broadcast journalist with the newsmagazine from its inception in 1968 - Mike Wallace later hosted the History Channel miniseries 20th Century with Mike Wallace, which began in 1995 and ran through the end of the millennium. This unique box set exclusively hones in on ten episodes of that series that examine how war evolved over the course of the century - with an eye on such developments as the shifting role of women, the use of elite special forces, and the emergence of more high-tech, cutting-edge artillery. The programs both investigate individual conflicts, such as Somalia, Vietnam and Korea, and feature informed commentary by experts including fellow 60 Minutes icons Morley Safer and Walter Cronkite, historians such as David Halberstam, and politicians including Senator John McCain.
