    Be careful when redeeming your insurance. This is great to have if your NEED A REPLACEMENT ON YOUR LENS.But I would advise to see your local trusted camera shop guy before assuming that the behind the scence staff at BB really can deter main the damage if any to your item. Once you use your insurance. You have to buy another insurance coverage. I took a lens in i hardly used to have it looked at for a funny sound. End up replacing with a new one since bb said they could not fix it. I later learned it was because there was nothing to fix. It was a n ultra sonic lens and it made that sound on focus. I should have done my homework first. I USED up my insurance for nothing. Further more they said If I wanted to the new lens covered I would need to buy new insurance BTW my current coverage should had still been acitvated. But I guess it does not matter . And they TRIED to get me to pay the tax amount on the current price of the replaced lens. smh. So in a nut shell its great if YOU KNOW FOR A FACT YOU NEED IT.

    My last go around with an extended warrenty didn't work too well since the item was an open box and I got it for a huge savings. When I got home and the item worked for 2 days then stopped returning it was a pain in the a@@ also getting them to match the price in another open box was another pain. I still have issues with the second unit I got but after the hassle I'm putting it off for a while cause I'll likely have to downgrade to a lower level unit from the top of the line unit I have now if they are unable to repair it again.

    Extremely wise decision. Think of it this way... Spend 1000 on a lens, and one of your aperture blades malfunctions, now you're out a grand. Or spend 150 more, and save yourself the grief of contacting the manufacturer, waiting on the phone for hours, just to find out they can't help you. Geek squad has walk in appointments, so you can talk to a human being, so all issues are resolved. "Still not buying the plan? 'oh no baby, what is ya doing?'"

    I buy this every year even though you would only give me $63.00 towards a trade in. I think $200.00 is a bit much for 1 year especially since the unit is only worth a few bucks. You should charge according to what the unit is worth. I probably will never drop it or run over it with my car. So I guess I will continue to pay the price until I get a new unit.

    I luckily have not needed to use my protection plan, but it is great to have just in case I do have a drop occur. I think it's good for the lens because that is what bumps into stuff more often. Plus manufacturer warranty only covers the defects portion and not damage. I just wish the protection plans were a little less expensive, but I understand the reasoning behind the prices.

    I have always purchased the Best Buy protection plan over the years for high end electronics. I have had to use the plan twice in ten years and couldn't be happier with the results! Thank you Best Buy for standing by your products with your no hassle protection plan. I choose to shop here because of the results I have had in the past.

    Best protection plan for lens!! Well worth the money as My original lens was nearly a year old when it malfunctioned. No questions asked, after 3 times out for repair, they replace it. I would suggest, however, that after the 2nd tike out, same issue, it's most likely going to neee to be replaced...jus sayin'

    Everyone says they're good with they're electronics, but I'm telling you... When the day comes, and it gets hit the wrong way, or something small breaks, you. Will. Feel. Awful. Buy the protection plan, and gain peace of mind. If not three, at least one year Incase you rarely use it
