Great Price, Great Sound
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I Bought it at a great price, has a great sound, "Please Don't Forget It Is Not Wireless You Will Have To Hook Your Router Up To It To Make It Smart" Otherwise Worth It, just make sure you do all your research and read all the reviews

Very good for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was struggling with the choice of getting one of these Home Theater Systems in a Box, or buying everything separate. I have a soundbar that has been more than satisfactory for a couple years, and so I was leaning towards buying everything separate. When looking online, I was thinking "How big of a difference can this thing and it's little speakers even make??" I have a PS4 that plays blurays, so I don't need that. Well I get to best buy and notice this is on sale. I figure, meh, I can always return it if I hate it. Well, after a week of having everything hooked up together, the Soundbar has now moved into the bedroom, and as far as this thing and its "little speakers" go, wow. I was amazed at how great these actually sound. Don't get me wrong. It will not compete with a $1500 system. However, when considering most soundbars are $150+ for a good one, and you do get quality sound out of them, the little bit of money you'll spend on this Samsung unit is more than worth it! If you are pretty tech savvy, you will enjoy the customization options. I would recommend for everyone to download the firmware/software update immediately. Then you can take the time to set the distance of every speaker, as well as adjust volume out of each speaker. You can get a free Db Sound Meter App on any smart phone, select speaker test from the Samsung menu, and fine tune every speaker so that you have complete, even sound coming from every angle. The only issues I have is that it has bluetooth and will play music and videos from your phone, but you can not use bluetooth headphones. Also, I have a high pitch feedback sound that comes through the speakers whenever I have it set on Digital In (from my PS4). It is likely that it is caused by the cable itself or just some interference. It goes away whenever sound is being played though. I listen to music loud, watch a ton of action movies, play a variety of games, and this system sounds great with everything! I am a very picky person when it comes to sound quality, yet every day whenever I'm watching, or listening, to something new, I find myself smiling at the great surround sound positioning as well as the detail. All out of these tiny speakers, too! Amazing! Oh, as to the "Why 4 stars and not 5?" For one, it could really use an extra input, as well as extra output. The selection of "apps" is slim/non existent outside of the standard netflix, vudu, hulu, amazon, ect.. And last, but not least.. even though I listen to everything extremely loud and I don't find myself maxing this out often.. At the end of the day, it is a $250 Samsung, and not a premium Klipsch, Sony, or Cerwin Vega.. So lets be realistic.

Great system for a busy family
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't like changing once I'm familiar with something, but our last theater system was in need of replacement and we chose this one. It took my awhile to get used to it, but now I love it. I was worried about the small speakers, but the sound quality is wonderful. We've blared this on full volume multiple times (we have a house full of teenagers) with no damage to the sound quality. The menu is really easy to use. We once used Netflix and Youtube through our Wii, but this is so much easier to use that our Wii just sits unless the kids want to play something. We all love the BT feature and especially the range we can connect with. Change was good in this case.

great sound and design
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the design of the box and speakers. The sound is clear and bass fairly strong. I have not turned it up to full but even using 3 of the speakers its loud enough to fill a living area. The bundled apps are a great addition but can be a little slow to load compared to the roku 2 we usually use. The only downside to the whole package is that it requires a wired ethernet connection to use online features. I am going to set up a wireless bridge with a couple of routers as the tv isn't near my internet socket

Awesome surround sound until...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love my surround sound. The sound quality is great, and it is very easy to use. Just one downfall. I have the fiber optic cable connected to my TV at all times. But I cannot leave the HDMI cord plugged in because then it will not play any sound when I want to just watch my satellite. Whenever I want to watch a DVD I have to plug the HDMI cable back into the TV, then remember to unplug it whenever I want to watch regular tv again. Somewhat of a pain, but I'm used to it now. I had geek squad come out and look at it. They have no idea why it does it, but they also didn't offer to replace it. So I'm not sure if this is common, or just not that big of a deal. That's the only reason I'm not giving this product 5 stars.

Nice addition to my TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great product and fit the bill for me in many ways. Did not break my budget for what I was planning on spending. Also it went down in price before I picked it up and they had already adjusted the price. The Player was easy to set up and the sound and picture quality is excellent. Great experience all around for me.

Okay, not great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying that this is installed in a high school classroom: acoustics may not be the best as there are a lot of reflective surfaces, and it is comparatively large to most home environments. Video playback: no complaints with regular or blu-ray disks. The images are fine, no noticeable artifacts. Sound: from movies is actually quite good, and the surround system has good separation. On audio disks, or anything through the aux port, not so good. Music sounds tinny and can only be streamed through the front side speakers (left/right) and sub-woofer. There are some nice equalizer type controls for making adjustments adjustments, but they seem to have minimal effect. Perhaps I'm spoiled since my home system costs close to 20 times this system, and again the environment is likely not what it was designed for, but in my classroom, it is adequate.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Q: QuestionWill this home theater system play any DVDs/CDs? Blu-Ray, non-Blu-Ray, Old DVDs, CD / CD-R / CD-RW, home DVDs and CDs (e.g. collage of photos)???On the Samsung site, when this model is compared with model HT-H4500/ZA, it says "N/A" next to CD / CD-R / CD-RW for model HT-J5500/ZA and "Yes" next to model HT-H4500/ZA. Before purchasing, would like a definitive answer if this model can play any and all DVDs and CDs.

Q: QuestionI see this system says its smart tv/3d capable but can you also run it on standard rca/hdmi tv's? And also, does it come with everything in the box to hook it straight up? Or will a seperate purchase of a reciever be necessary?
Asked by Needhelp.
- A:Answer We purchased this when we got a new TV because we wanted to upgrade our blu-ray player as well as our soundbar. We do not have a 3D TV, but it is 4K. This system has a wonderful and easy to set up style. Everything was in the box. The blu-ray player works great with great resolution. The speakers are controlled through the blu-ray player and the setup for that was easy, too. It sets up through the TV screen. Speaker wires and HDMI cable were included in the box. I will never regret buying this item. Love it. Easy to use. No problems. I say, if you have an HDMI connection, this will work for you!
