HEEEE'S BAAACK !
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First let me say that if you are reading this, then you know who Rakim is. With that said, go get the CD. Please go get the CD and support this legend. I must admit that I was really surprised at how good this album is. I'm 39 and you can call me old school or whatever but I've been prducing music since I was 14, yeah since 1984. Had my first Drum Machine a Boss Dr. Rhythm DR-110 at 12, 1982 when people didn't even know what it was. I know times have changed and a lot of pioneers have fell off but RAKIM is back baby. I think Jay's BP3 is cool and 50 BISD is even better but The Seventh Seal is really something to add to your collection. Since his first two solo releases and then the connection with Dr. Dre and Aftermath I was waiting and had heard a few releases after he left Aftermath that I wasn't too fond of but Baby did he come back hard for this, his 3rd solo after many , too many years. Also he's on his own label RA Records, no parent company so support The God MC so we can hear more soon. Again I love Hip Hop and Rap , yes their is a difference. As Rakim said it best, I was Hip Hop before the music and I talk like this because that's how I talk and the music adapted the lingo of Rakim and other artist. Like 50 kicked " My favorite rapper used to say " Check Out My Melody ". If the question was ever asked of me as to who my favorite rapper of all time was it would be between LL and Rakim. Lyrically it would have to be Rakim but when it came to battle rap and bragging it would be LL and LL was my dude and had more releases out also besides the fact he was out before most too. Rakim has maintained the level of skill and put it into this new album and in my opinion he has out done himself and I only wish he was still with Aftermath just so he would have the recognition and marketing because I didn't even know he dropped the new CD until I was checking sales numbers and they mentioned The God. We just lost our only Hip Hop and R&B radio station WAMO a few months ago so now there are no real outlets for this music and we get skipped over pretty much by promo teams. You will not be dissapointed so go cop this new one and show Rakim he is still loved by the fans. 100 Mics , Stars or whatever you wanna give, like I said if you are reading this then you know who Rakim is and just need to go out and buy it. It stinks when you have to pay shipping and handling all of the time. Or at least they could ship it to the store for freeand I could pick it up there. But they dont ever have that as an option on the c.d'[s.
