Peter Greenaway's cerebral examination of erotic fixation 8 1/2 Women comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that faithfully reproduces the original theatrical aspect ratio, preserving Greenaway's painterly compositions. A closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Surround. There are no subtitles on this release. Supplemental materials are limited to a theatrical trailer. This disc will certainly appeal to Greenaway enthusiasts, but those who have not yet developed an interest in his highly stylized work may want to start elsewhere.
