A menacing, dreamlike thriller that has drawn comparisons to Dario Argento's classic Italian horror film Suspiria, Spanish director Agustín Villaronga's 99.9 makes its stateside DVD debut courtesy of Urban Vision Entertainment. Presented in 1.85:1 widescreen, the source print used for the transfer appears to be a theatrical print that has suffered some slight damage. Though the image is a bit dark and grainy at times and there does appear to be slight evidence of edge enhancement, colors seem well balanced and skin tones even. Music and vocal tracks are well mixed on the Spanish Stereo audio track (burnt-in subtitles are provided for non-Spanish viewers), providing an effective vehicle for the unsettling music utilized in the film despite a minor hiss that is present throughout. Curiously, a making-of segment is presented in Spanish with no subtitles, rendering the feature somewhat useless for the English-speaking audiences who are likely to pick up the Region 1 release. A handful of bonus trailers are also provided, as are web links for Cuidad and Urban Vision's websites.
