A well-made independent feature; "ROT: REUNION OF TERROR" is a welcome return to the mystery/slasher movie. A group of friends are invited to meet in a cabin in the woods (always a bad idea) for their high school reunion. Of course, when they get there - the one who supposedly set the even up is missing. This is a (surprisingly) nice-looking and sounding movie; with nicely desaturated HD cinematography and bleak locations. However, I should say that "ROT" is pretty standard stuff until the last 5 minutes - which makes you think for a second about what you just watched. Up there with the ending of "Sleepaway Camp"; this one's final twist is more of a "what the!?" than a well scripted plot reveal - But it's definitely worth a look. The DVD's loaded, with a funny making-of and decent commentary explaining how hard it was to get this film completed. While some of the casting/acting could have been better - this one is actually a legitimate throwback to retro slashers; and if anything, is just as good (but still suffers from some of the same weaknesses those films did). Recommended.
