As adapted from books by David Nobbs and broadcast by ITV intermittently from January through December 1989, the British comedy series A Bit of a Do followed the adventures of two Yorkshire families at different places on the socioeconomic spectrum. The Simcocks were a generally unsophisticated, working class lot; The Rodenhursts a financially comfy, middle-class clan. Yet the two groups shared attitudes of complete snobbery. They found themselves thrust together time and again at the "dos" of the title - social events including a funeral, weddings, and christenings - which naturally led to endless class-borne complications. The cast included David Thewlis, Nicola Pagett, Michael Jayston and Gwen Taylor. This set contains all 13 series episodes as they originally aired, plus extras including cast filmographies and interviews with Pagett and Nobbs.
