Fantastic album from a great artist!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sturgill Simpson simply dazzles on his latest album! The opening track, written as a letter to his recently-born son, is a standout and an amazing entry into Simpson's world. What follows next is a journey thru psychedelia, stories told in dive bars from old sailors, and recollections of homesick soldiers, all filtered thru a fantastic voice with echoes of early-era Randy Travis. Buy it.

A great country rock album
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This CD reminds me of a throwback to the seventies. Its not really country and more of a rock album. The sounds on this disc is something that would have fit in to what music was 40 years ago. I think it is labeled country but it has alot of influences and is hard to categorize it. What ever you want to call it its different but oh so good. A must buy

Another solid offering from Mr. Simpson
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got into Sturgill Simpson recently with his superb 2014 album Metamodern Sounds In Country Music. This, his new offering is another solid effort from one of country music's best artists. A lot more experimental than its predecessor, mixing outlaw country with soul for a great and very different album. Highly recommended for all fans of outlaw country music and soul as well.

I am Looking forward to seeing Sturgill Simpson with the Willie Nelson Outlaw Music Festival this summer. I stumbled upon this CD and purchased it based on the cover art. The more I listen, the more I love it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this album cause Sturgill had been grouped a few times with other songwriters that are faves (Jason Isbell & Chris Stapleton). First play or two didn’t grab me as much but over the months and with more listens, this is a super album. Just super.

What Great Country can be
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review."A Sailor's Guide..." is one of the best albums of the last ten years. Country with some Rock and Funk fusion. The album is love letter to the artist's son about love, growing up, and trying to do right by others but still enjoying the ride.

Real country
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First Chris Stapleton and now Sturgil Simpson. After losing a couple of our true country legends lately maybe we have found some guys talented enough and with their heart in the right place that can keep real country music alive.
