Computer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really enjoy the Acer Chromebook I love the fact that it is lightweight. I also like the fact that it runs on Google IOS system. I also like that I use google version of Microsoft office which is good because I don't have to worry about downloading or buying any additional software.

All you really need to take care of business
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Chromebooks can do so much -- so much more than meets the eye. Forget the whole MS Suite version WHATEVER. This does ALL that AND a bag o' chips. It constantly saves whatever you're doing to the Google Drive so you never worry about where it is (in some obscure Windows oddball file you didn't even know was on your PC, located only after searching for hours on end). It's very easy and intuitive. (The perfect marriage of Apple and Microsoft?) Google researched and found a better, cheaper, easier way. If you need a comparable program, Google has an app for that -- an EASY app. That will integrate seamlessly. And in most cases, it's FREEEEE! I became a willing convert to Chromebook/Google Drive after my son's school issued it for a second year. I chose the ACER because: 1) I wanted a Chromebook, 2) it was time, 3) the price was right!, 4) freedom from the constraints of Apple and MS (too exclusive), and 5) the PLASTIC housing actually makes it lighter (weight) than the metal casing on the others. The floor/demo model was white and it looked much the worse for wear -- lots of smudged, dirty hand prints, so it was a "preview" of how'd look over time. I don't care -- I'm an adult and I don't man-handle it. And I put stickers all over it anyway -- the stickers I'd always wanted to put on my V-Dub bus--and all subsequent cars -- but it "just isn't done -- at our age." Short version: I Love it! Try it!

Great Value for Money - Excellent for travel
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Acer chromebook in preparation for a backpacking holiday. Not wanting to risk the well-being or safety of my Lenovo Flex i5 I figured the chromebook was a good travel companion that could handle the email / browsing needs during travel without being heavy on the wallet or on the backpack. Today after having returned I believe it was the right decision and worth every penny. It's incredibly light and the size is great for a small backpack or bag, the make is rugged and while not the best aesthetically does a good job of keeping it from scratches (though there is a tendency for smudges and dirt to accumulate on the outer cover). The battery life is excellent and I have used it for 6-7 hours on a full charge. The USB ports work when the lid is hinged and that makes it great for charging phones. No problems with USB flash drives or connecting with my phone. The wifi works well enough. The OS is minimalist but has everything needed for general use, even a lite version of Word that can do basic doc editing. The startup and response times are the best of any laptop I have seen till date - it literally resumes from hibernation the moment the screen is opened. The keyboard is not Lenovo-quality but good, nonetheless. Best of all is the low weight that makes it ideal for whipping out easily, balancing on knees during long airport layovers and fitting back into overhead storage. Even the charging cable and adaptor are lightweight. The slight niggles are the need to press Alt for right click and a slight connection problem with my BT headset that manifests on occasion. Using a memory card on this model results in a slight protrusion from the chassis that's a bit annoying - I wish the onboard RAM was a bit more. There are a few software downsides with the limitations of Chrome but that's ok since its not meant to be a substitute to my regular notebook. Highly recommended.

Don't let the low price fool you...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yes, this is a Chromebook. Yes, it is much more limited than a PC or a Mac. Yes, without internet access, it's rendered useless. However, it's 2015. Nearly 75% of the United States population has home internet service, and I'd be willing to bet that 100% have access to publicly available WiFi, should they look for it. That being said, the Chromebook is the PERFECT laptop device for those who simply want to browse the internet - text, audio and video. It has a FAST boot speed (I timed 3.5 seconds) and comes pretty much ready to go right out of the box. The screen is certainly not top-grade... but, why would you buy a Chromebook if you're looking for a high caliber device? Any negative associations with the Chromebook are highly exaggerated and are basically forced: if you're expecting more than a basic internet browsing device, then you've failed from the start! If you need a device for BASIC internet usage - read the news, watch some YouTube, stream Pandora, stream Netflix to Chromecast, pay online bills, etc., then you cannot beat this Chromebook.

Excellent product, does what its supposed to do
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The reason I give this chromebook 5 stars is it totally meets my expectations and does so at a great price. My primary criteria is I wanted an inexpensive laptop that I could use for internet surfing and other cloud computing applications such as google play. It does all of this very well. As most people know all applications are run from the cloud. With that in mind, it will not run something like Microsoft Office so if that's something you need this isn't the product for you. But, it can read MS Word and Excel docs and convert them to Google Docs which works quite well for what I need. If you need fancy formatting or complex formulas this might not work for you. The performance is great, I don't have to worry about anti-virus protection and the never ending software updates required on a Microsoft OS machine. It boots up extremely fast and battery life is typically 8 hours or more. Though it doesn't have much on board storage (16 or 32 gb), it works very well with a USB storage device or SD card. It also supports USB 3. Its got a headphone jack, HDMI output and most importantly Bluetooth which works seamlessly. Screen size is perfect if you are comfortable with a 11 inch display. Display quality is very good too. Very portable, ultra-thin design. After over one month of constant use I have no complaints. It's precisely what I was looking for and cost under $200.

Q: Questionchromebook vs laptopmy son just watches Netflix, youtube and plays games. Would a chromebook be the best buy for him.
Asked by Ron.
- A:Answer If the games are browser based then this would work perfectly. If the game needs to be installed for Windows/Mac then this won't work. Netflix and youtube would be fine. For the price this is a great buy.

Q: QuestionWill any printer work with this chromebook?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Only printers that are web-enabled or have a regular computer hooked up to them. I have an HP printer/scanner that I use via google cloud printing. Ironically, it is a more reliable way to use the printer than my home wifi network as I cannot assign the printer a static IP (router limitations). I end up printing using the cloud from all my devices including my windows based laptops.

Q: Questionwill useing the power wash feature that restores factory settings and erasses everything else, remove all viris that may have been caught?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Yes. If you got a virus, I'm shocked as I don't believe it's possible to get a virus on ChromeOS yet.

Q: QuestionARE YOU ABLE TO USE THIS FOR ONLINE SCHOOLING?I ATTEND COLLEGE ONLINE AND IM NOT SURE IF YOU CAN USE A CHROMEBOOK.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer I am a college professor who teaches courses online at a GA public university. Georgia public universities use a browser based program called Desire 2 Learn (D2L) for both regular and online classes. D2L runs excellently on both the Samsung 303 and Acer CB3. I use Google Docs to create my syllabus and assignment documents and save it as a PDF. I can view any of these PDF's on my computer. I can also view any microsoft office documents my students submit. I use the chromebook, with HDMI out, to do my class powerpoint lectures instead of relying on the built-in windows machine in the classroom which has the distressing tendency to reboot and update in the middle of class. I recommend my students use Prezi for their presentations. The only time the Chromebook won't work is if you have to run specialized software (spss statistical packages for example) in which case you can use the computer lab.
