Great Small Computer
Posted .I got this Acer touch screen computer about two weeks ago and have been really really happy with it. It's extremely portable -- so small and light it fits in every bag I have. And the touch screen is cool even if I don't use it much (I typically dock into a monitor and keyboard so don't really need touch). And I am using it as my primary work computer so it's on ALL day with lots of open programs, which the processor is handling no problem. I think the only drawback is getting used to Windows 8. Because I use the computer for work I am in Microsoft Office programs all day and those work in "classic" mode so the switching between tiles and classic is a little annoying. But even with that I'd totally recommend it to others. Am even considering buying another one for my daughter as her first computer!

Great Ultraportable
||Posted .This is a great ultraportable pc. it's a quad core AMD which is great for the multi-tasking required for all the background processes that are needed to support modern apps. downside is it feels slow for a quad core but that's bc it's only 1 ghz. This helps with power use and heat and so just don't expect it to be like an FX or phenom chip. But most of the lag is due to win 8! Most online tweakers have loaded win 7 and that may be the way I go! Get a usb 3 stick of at least 16 gb and back up the recovery drive image first thing (before updates if the stick is 16gb). Touchscreen works great, i fat finger it a bit, and it feels sticky but I plan on putting a screen protector on it to fix that. Something I didn't expect was the DVD drive. very useful. It comes with 4 gb (2x2gb) of RAM but you can only upgrade one to 4gb (total of 6gb) as the other is soldered into the board. In the end it's a great computer super light easy to carry easy to read, easy to type on. Get the financing and go for it!

Great all around for the price
Posted .I grabbed this for my mom two weeks ago. I'm notoriously picky in my family for their electronics - considering I do programming and I spend a lot of time at a PC, I am the kind of user who can't live without an SSD, IPS, and everything I do being nice and responsive. For my mom however, and her use case, it's great. Temash (the processor) is perfectly adequate for web browsing, 1080p video, and things like office etc. A quad core CPU (while slightly gimmicky) should prevent multiple applications from really tripping you up. The screen is wonderful - 10x better than anything I've ever seen on a $400 windows laptop. The keyboard and trackpad are decent, definitely acceptable for the price. Now - downsides. Battery is only about 4-5.5 hours, but you won't do better than that without seriously hurting performance until silvermont (intel's next low power CPU architecture) comes out in November/Christmas season. It's certainly not too bad. And while it's more powerful than something like an ipad or former windows 8 tablet, you won't be playing heavy games like Metro: Last Light *anytime* soon. It would fly on anything that is in the windows store though. And the touchscreen is glossy, which is a minus for me, but it makes the colors pop a little better. And while the computer is made of plastic, it's still built well, without flex anywhere. I definitely think this laptop is worth the money. It won't be doing some powerhouse coding anytime soon, but for the average student or family member, I think it would be an excellent choice.

Good computer for on the go worker
||Posted .Great computer if you want something tablet size to pull out and note take during class or meetings, on the train or in a car. It's incredibly lightweight and you can't beat 10 hours of battery life! Would not recommend for people who have bad eyes because the screen resolution isn't great so if you haven't got " young eyes" it may be a problem for you. The mouse isn't great either so I'd recommend buying a Bluetooth mouse as well. Perfect for sending emails and surfing web would definitely recommend for someone who is looking for something simple and small or a cheap touch screen

Great lap top for a student and everyday use!
Posted .My HP lap top fried about 4 week ago after 6 years of service. I was not looking into spending more than $500.00 on a lap top. I just needed something I could use for the internet and for school, Mainly to write papers. Im not a gamer and not really into having the best of the best especially if I dont need it or even have a use for it. This lap top caught my eye. Very light, sleek, sharp screen, and touch screen for under $500.00. I purchased the lap top and I put it to work quick. I have written two papers and a power point in the last week and the lap top handled it like a champ. The keyboard feels great and all around the lap top is great and functional. Perfect for everyday use and functionality. I was dreading having to look for a new lap top because there is just so many options to choose from. But this lap top made the search and decision very easy. The function and speed of this lap top is amazing for the cost. Really cannot ask for much more. I was also amazed at the kind of sound this tiny lap top can produce. Loud, clean and clear sound is also a plus. I am very pleased with my purchase so far.

Nice little laptop
||Posted .I did a lot of research and got a lot of advice from computer-savvy friends, as this was my first time purchasing any sort of computer equipment on my own since divorcing my computer programmer ex-husband. I am a teacher, a grad student, and a writer, so I need a good laptop that I can take with me easily, but I don't have a lot of money or a lot of patience for learning how to use new technology. So far this laptop has been perfect for me. I don't know if it would be ideal for some users with more specific needs, but for general word processing and web surfing, it has been perfect. I also have watched shows from Hulu and NetFlix, and the picture is very nice. I am very happy with this purchase.

Tiny but Powerful
||Posted .I bought this laptop about a month ago when I needed a laptop to replace my 7 year old Acer that no longer holds a charge. I wanted it to be small, portable, and have a VGA port, since I intend to use it to present PowerPoint presentations as my start up business takes off (I hope) and most places have older projectors that do not have HDMI ports. I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money and I was leaning toward an Acer considering how great my old laptop was and how long it'd lasted. I knew when I bought it that the screen didn't fold all the way around (to be a pseudo tablet) but I do think I'd like that at times when using the touch screen. I do not like the power button being on the outside edge; I haven't accidentally pushed it, but I'l scared I will. The speakers are on the bottom of the laptop, which makes for terrible sound quality if it's on your lap, but on a hard surface the sound is actually pretty good. I wasn't looking for a touch screen, but I find I really like it, especially for scrolling (and I catch myself doing that on other computers that don't have touch screens...). It's got an AMD processor, which is fine and its actually been a workhorse so far (especially compared to my old laptop), and it is made in Texas, but I generally prefer an Intel. I do wish it had a couple more USB ports, but again I knew going in it only had 2. The cord was a little weird at first because the box that's usually in the middle of the cord is now at the end. But you get to decide how to put the plug in (vertical or horizontal) so it actually hasn't been a problem plugging in, even on a full power strip. Best of all, the price was extremely reasonable, though I do think I got it during a back to school sale. There is a little bit of a learning curve with Windows 8, but I really don't see what all the negative hype is about. Yes, you have to learn to use it, but it's not the end of the world and it's actually pretty intuitive.

Great replacement for stolen mini computer
||Posted .My mini computer (like a netbook, but an actual computer) was stolen and I bought this Acer to replace it. I really enjoy the small form factor of this notebook. It's fast, the screen is great, and it switches from touch screen to keyboard without a burp! This machine is really thin and I can tuck it anywhere. The weight is low and the price is fabulous. My only complaint is that Win8 in NOT an intuitive platform and I have yet to find ways to do some things, like see the list of names or small icons for photos, rather than have to slog through a zillion screens. That's it. My only complaint. Hopefully Microsoft will come up with some fixes or with Win9 pretty soon.

Q: Questionyes, it ships with VGA dongle, but with an external 3rd party dongle with it play HDMI?I understand I can use VGA with the included dongle. but Best Buy salesman said that with ALSO WITH 3rd party dongle, it can be connected and will play using HDMI video. is this right or wrong? can it be used for HDMI with an external 3rd party dongle? requesting information from Acer company technician or someone who has actually tried getting HDMI output.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Yes, HDMI works with 3rd party adapter. I got the rocketfish adapter for mine and have it connected to an hdmi monitor. Works great.

Q: QuestionCan it be run mainly on electricityThe normal advice is not to leave batteries in laptops if they are going to be used with the mains supply to stop them burning out and reducing their lifetime. But in this computer the battery is sealed in so it cannot be removed when it has been fully charged up to stop it overcharging and losing some of its capacity.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer You can use this notebook either on battery power or connected to the adapter.

Q: Questioncan i install any printer?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer In most cases yes, but we would recommend checking the compatibility of the printer you choose and the operating system on this notebook.
