Acer - Aspire Laptop with AMD Athlon™ Single-Core Processor

I preordered this laptop on Oct 21 they shipped it overnight with free express shipping, got it Oct 22. Best features about it... AMD Athlon 64 CPU instead of a Celeron, 3 GB DDR2 of ram and upgrades to 4 GB max, DVD dual layer burner, 160 GB Hard drive, 64 bit Windows 7 better then 32 bit and future proofed, Radeon HD grapics chipset with Direct X10(can run games on low setting)ALOT better then a sucky Intel GMA grapics , has a numeric pad on the keyboard, 16.9 HD LCD. For the price 349.99 it can't be beat.It doesn't get hot and is made very well...In the same price range as this you can get a netbook but I would rather have something that can do more...On the flipside Toshiba has a laptop that is the same price as this but it has a Celeron and has 32 bit of Windows, it can be upgraded to 8 GB of ram (it only comes with 2 GB) but with 32 bit installed it windows won't recognize no more then 3 GB... and it has a Intel GMA graphics which just sucks it don't even have HD so you see the Toshiba is not as a good of as a deal as the Acer. Buy this Acer Aspire you will not reget purchasing it and for the price it can't be beat!

This is a really nice and sleek laptop and what's even better is: THE PRICE! You can't find quality laptops at this price ($370.99/ including tax) these days! I like how the laptop isn't glossy around the keyboard and sides like most HP's....which would be easy to scratch. It's pretty light compared to majority laptops I've had, it's pretty silent....excellent clarity on the screen, really durable keyboard. Pretty decent hard-drive space (160GB). It has a couple "bells & whistles" that you would see more in the higher end laptops like: A Multi-in-one memory card reader, Multi-recorder DVD drive...to name a few. Overall, a great laptop for an affordable price!

this laptop is a great item to have for school and work. the full keyboard works great and typing doesn't seem to be a problem. the HD display is great. no lag on videos. there is no lights for the caps lock key. overall this laptop is way worth the money. you are getting more out of this unit than a expensive laptop.

i love the laptop automactially connects to the internet without paying for a hight internet bill the programs are great that acer provides and i like the storage and i can understand how to empty stuff off my harddrive without messing stuff up

I love this laptop. Good size and memory. I put Sims and Halo on it and it still runs smoothly :) It didn't come with a sleeve, though. So, I bought a very cool and well padded burlap case with a large outer pocket from kevhawk.etsy.com

Our son was able to set this up by himself. I wished that I had ordered 1 for myself.

My husband bought me this laptop back in October. After 40 days, my screen messed up and turned a bunch of different colors. This problem made the laptop unusable. I sent it in, got it back and the issue came back after a few weeks. I ended up sending in the same laptop 4 times for the same problem with the screen. They continued to replace the lcd screen to no avail. I hardly used the computer and it sat most of the time because I got sick of dealing with it. Acer finally sent me an upgraded laptop after the 4th send in only after my husband bought me a different laptop. Yeah it is a nice price and it is a nice computer if you don't count the screen problems I had. If the screen didn't mess up so much, I wouldn't have an issue with this laptop at all.

I'm a "guru". This is a great deal. Sold under various names by several companies, this is a great combination of features and internal components for the price. Key is the upgradeable Socket s1g1 cpu, and std ATI HD3200 graphics. Any of the AMD "TL" mobile dual core processors will plug right into this unit giving you performance unmatched by other laptops approaching $1000.00 or more. Many of the TL cpu's are now available from $20.00 on up, with clock speeds running from 1600 up to 2400mghz. Anything using the IBM HD4500 graphics chip is substantially outperformed by the ATI graphics in this laptop. Even with the stock single core TF-20 the laptop is capable of handling day to day std usage with aplomb. With the TL dual core's installed, it becomes an amazing deal. Plus, unlike many laptops, this one has excellent internal cooling with no hotspots. It also has a very serviceable keyboard WITH a number pad AND a pair of very useful buttons for enabling/disabling the touchpad and wifi instantly. The speakers are adequate, clear, but tinny with little base, however sound out thru the earphone/stereo jack is excellent. Screen color, speed, resolution and text size is about optimal for 'laptop' viewing in a recliner. Some units even come with "N" based wifi. Though the chassis is plastic, it is well designed and NOT prone to twisting or distortion. All in all a simply excellent consumer laptop. At the sale prices available, it is the best current laptop deal of which I am aware. Get a laptop cooler with fans blowing UP, an auxiliary USB 2.0 expansion module (for more USB PORTS) and nudge the memory up to 3 or 4 gigabytes and both you and your laptop will be happy for a very long time.
