It's a great fun toy. the device powers Trap Team’s new novelty of being able to capture and then play as enemies. A plastic trap key is placed in a slot in the portal to capture the villains once they have been defeated. A different toy trap piece is required for each of the corresponding elements, and once trapped, villains can be used as player characters by placing their related trap back in the portal.

My son played through Skylanders Trap Team in record time for him. And he had a GREAT time doing so, BUT ... that also meant that my $75 dollar investment in that game stopped offering an return in record time as well. Fortunately the Light Element Expansion Pack offered my boy a cool new character, a trap, and a new level to the game in which to play those items! So, my son is back playing in the Skylands and he's happy about it, which makes me happy. Completely worth it.

My daughters are fans of the skylanders, so naturally they had to have it. They enjoy swapping around the characters. These have good construction quality so they will hold up to younger kids getting hold of them. I was initially concerned about storing them in a toy box, as I was afraid the wings or thin weapons would permanently bend, but that has not been the case with any of them.
