    Synopsis

    Alien Resurrection
Two centuries after Ellen Ripley's death, doctors aboard the space station Auriga clone her using a blood sample taken from Fiorna 161, in hopes of harvesting the queen embryo that was incubating inside of her when she was trapped on the remote penal planet. Finally succeeding after numerous attempts, they remove the alien and repair the clone for further study. Before long, the Ripley clone has gained consciousness, and displays superhuman capabilities that suggest it possesses alien DNA. When Ripley discovers that General Perez (Dan Hedaya) is keeping the queen in a heavily fortified room of the space station, she warns the military man and his scientists that the creature cannot be contained no matter how hard they try. Meanwhile, General Perez has hired a crew of space pirates to deliver the cryogenically frozen bodies of another ship to the Auriga so they can be used to breed more aliens. The leader of the pirates is Johner (Ron Perlman), a gruff mercenary who engages Ripley to no avail. When Call (Winona Ryder), one of Johner's crewmembers, admits that she was sent to assassinate Ripley, General Perez attempts to have the pirates executed. The result is a tense standoff between the pirates and the military men, with the aliens causing havoc after breaking free of their containment cells. Attempting a daring escape, Ripley and the pirates discover the lab where she was cloned before being forced to swim through the mess hall, which has been submerged in water during the aliens' escape. Discovering a carefully guarded secret about Call's past, Ripley attempts to convince her to alter the Auruga's course, which was set to Earth when the ship went into emergency mode. With the fate of mankind hanging in the balance, Ripley is captured by the aliens and taken to their nest, where she comes face to face with the mutated results of the scientists' experiments. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Bought this (the only one of the series that I didn't already have) for the movie cash offer that BB attached to it. I was tough on this film after seeing it in theaters upon its release and that still holds true. Without focusing on the numerous plot holes, I'll just stick to some pet peeves. Somewhere in the series, these creatures just started to get wetter and wetter; like they ...just ...can't ...stop secreting goo. NOT how they were intended. And personally, films that take place 5 centuries in the future should be written with that in mind and not with 21 century slang and attitudes. Just dumb - like the entire thing. Thankfully Ridley Scott is back at the helm because Covenant more than makes up for this hot mess.

I think that "Alien: Resurrection" was one of the greatest films of all-time and it was also one of my favorite films of all-time. I have seen and enjoyed this film several times and I've also seen and enjoyed the films "Aliens", "Alien 3" and the "Aliens V Predator" films. I also think that "Alien: Resurrection" had a lot of entertaining and enjoyable action, mystery, horror and suspense and a really great and amazing cast and personal storylines as well.

Basically conceived as an antidote of sorts to Alien 3, this film, picking up hundreds of years after the last film, finds Ripley resurrected thanks to some DNA manipulation. This same method also brings back the Aliens that have long been part of her life. Winona Ryder is brought aboard this time around as someone interested in Ripley and her story. Sadly, though, the momentum from the first two entries of this series had all but vanished by this time.

This movie was a real treat for me because it has both my favorite alien creatures in it. I remember watching alien and being so scared to go to bed at night. I loved predator and all the predator movies. So this movie was such a great thriller because it include both this creatures fighting for superiority. It is such a great movie! This was the last in the Alien series, following some many, many years later. The corporation is gone, but LT. Ripley is reborn & the Aliens come too! Everthing goes wrong & that when the people start to died then the Queen has a baby the same way a human woman does....need I say more! I recommend buying this movie for yourself to find out what happens next!

Resurrection was a good addition to the series but not the best. My fiancé and I had to get all of the movies before watching Covenant. It was a great bonus that it came with a ticket to the new one. The Blu-ray contains a lot of bonus material. It was a good addition to my collection at a great price.

This movie was lambasted when it came out. Reviewers hated it and it did very poorly at the boxoffice. It brought back the action of the 2nd movie of the "Sigourney Weaver" Alien movies. It wasn't as boring as the 3rd movie and had it's own share of surprises. I feel that it ended on a good note, after the 3rd movie's flop.

      Worse than 'Alien 3'

To give you an idea of the quality of this film and its storyline, let me just say, it's worse than 'Alien 3.' If that doesn't tell fans of this series what they're getting here, I don't know what will. Widescreen, the few who liked this one may prefer the collector's edition, that has several bonus features not available on this dvd.
