Customers regard the Aurora R12 Gaming Desktop's performance and graphics capabilities very favorably, with many praising its smooth gameplay and impressive visuals. The price point is also frequently cited as a positive aspect. However, some customers have expressed concerns about the cooling system's effectiveness, noting that it can become quite loud and lead to elevated temperatures under certain conditions.
I was impressed by the performance of the Aurora R12. It played even my most recent AAA titles at 120+ frame rates on ultra quality settings on a QHD display. For the most part, the machine was lightning fast and effortlessly played every game I threw at it. The side panel is easily removable to install minor upgrades such as an additional disk or RAM. The RGB lighting is sort of basic and Dell includes their cheesiest mainstream generic mouse and keyboard combo, but I was otherwise impressed with the design and quality of the components. What I wasn’t so impressed with were the software and possibly hardware issues. I returned the first PC after the USB ports stopped working during gameplay. I exchanged it for another but I experienced frequent crashes, freezing, odd random textures appearing during gaming and desktop use, and high operating temps on the subsequent PC. If I launch a seemingly innocuous app like the Xbox game overlay to chat record my gameplay, it frequently caused my game to get stuck in a loop where I am unable to exit the menu. Launching the Alienware software to monitor thermals during gameplay caused the same issue. I also experienced an extreme drop in frame rate whenever using gaming overlays like Xbox or NVIDIA. Also, the machine frequently gets quite warm. Temps frequently hover close to 100c during gameplay. I also observed temps spike to 91c while the PC was simply sitting at the desktop with no apps running in the foreground. I never had these issues when playing the same game on our four other gaming PCs. After trying two different PCs and experiencing one too many crashes occur before a save opportunity, I finally returned the second system and went with another brand. Maybe the R13 line might be better but the R12 line didn’t work out for me.

A solid computer with plenty of power. 4 stars for the continued Bluetooth issues it has with connecting to my audio JBL speakers and Bose headphones. I have to play with the Bluetooth on off switch for the headphones to connect from time to time, and the JBL connection is horrible, connects whenever it wants, and is not consistent. Aside from that blunder the system itself is good, haven’t really tested its full capabilities as it’s more of a work computer, but hoping to drop in a heavy game or two and see what it’s made of.
