Full Echo 2 qualilty and a low price.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you enjoy things like music and news via a convenient Alexa device, this is a great way to tie in your stereo hi-fi for a great price. If you tie in your stereo, you don't need Alexa speakers, etc. and it sounds great even though it is not hi-def stereo. It also works great with a good set of computer speakers & subwoofer for most normal listening. For the price - especially on sale, it is hard to like it. You won't miss the volume control since it is on your stereo and sound quality is basically upper MP3 quality.

Works perfectly for my niche need ideal in car:
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Device is a small disc but very solid and feels very well and solidly built. Extremely low power consumption; connected to external phone charger battery it barely drains the battery after hours of use. Presumably because there’s no speaker. I connect to phone hotspot. It comes with standard micro USB power cable and typical aux. cable. So just plug in for power, let it connect to hotspot, plug in aux. cable and done: on commutes short or long it streams any music or news I want on verbal command, no need for visual distraction while driving and car stereo plays it all. Extremely cool addition to the car. For this use case it’s perfect.

Great, but Echo Auto is better.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This echo device works great. But my intended purpose was to put in my vehicle. It works in the vehicle but you have to sync it with your phone hot spot every time, which is hit or miss. If you are planning to do what I did, wait and get the echo auto (I just got my echo auto and it works much better for that purpose). If you are going to use it for it's intended purpose then it is perfect. Does everything an echo dot does, just without the volume buttons.

Easy conversion from speaker to to smart speaker
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The $19.99 sale price made it an easy decision to convert a bedroom speaker to an Amazon Echo speaker. When guests visit, they can get news, weather and music with simple commands. The bluetooth range and reliability seem good. Microphone sensitivity is fine for the bedroom it's in, even picking up commands from the adjacent bathroom.

Works great.
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this on sale and it works great. I have a lot of spare speakers laying around so it's good value for me to be able to add Alexa to a room and just plug in speakers, rather then spend more money on a Dot or something else even more expensive. My one complaint is that it doesn't support Drop In feature. So that actually is a pretty useful feature that I may consider switching this for a Echo Dot.

Saved a lot! Same quality or better!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have an Alexa echo upstairs and wanted one in the family room but we already had a sound system there. With the Alexa input we were able to get all the benefits of Alexa without having to buy another echo. Works great and sounds great!

Have a speaker? Make it smart!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Echo Input is an inexpensive way ($15 as of this review) to add Alexa to a speaker with ease. It is literally a dot without a speaker. I installed this on my alarm clock of all things since it accepts 3.5 mm aux cable. Now, I have Alexa in my bedroom waking me up, telling me the weather & commute times before I go to work. I stopped using the alarm on the clock in favor of asking Alexa to snooze or stop the alarm it gives. Since I have Bose speakers in the bedroom & living room, I added the Bose skill so I can play my music all over or zone it out using the Input. If you owned a dot, the shape will be familiar. If you don't need a speaker & want to start on the path to a smart home, this is a nice way to begin.

Q: QuestionWhat is this device for? It seems to me, that for 10 bucks more, you can buy the Echo Dot and have a device with a BUILT-IN speaker. Please help, because if this device has some unique features not available on the other Echo devices, I'd like to know
Asked by UberGuy.
- A:Answer I can tell you how I use mine. Not sure if that will help you or not. I use this as input to a powered speaker that I already had using the aux cable that came with it. Could also connect using Bluetooth if your speaker allows. Mine didn’t so I use the cable. The speaker I already had has a much better sound than the small echo dot speaker I assume as it is a larger speaker. Hope this helps.

Q: QuestionDoes this have ability to control my Vizio smart tv and Roku?
Asked by dxbyrdman.
- A:Answer Yes, if you have the proper skill already setup. Calling the skill is easy, creating the skill is a bit more complex. If there is a ready made skill the setup is easy. Codding a custom skill requires programming most people are going to find impossible to do. The control of your AV system is better to be executed by a smart remote like Harmony and the vice control can be then integrated using Echo

Q: QuestionNot sure how powered? How? How different from regular echo dot? Could I use in basement as added security for elderly person who might need to call for assistance?
Asked by Beej.
- A:Answer It’s powered from a wall outlet like the Dot. It’s different from the Dot in that it doesn’t have a speaker built in. It needs to be connected to an external speaker that is turned on. It can be connected to an external speaker in two ways: by a wire, or wireless via Bluetooth (if the external speaker has that capability). It’s not as convenient as the Dot but very useful to turn old sound systems to an Alexa device.
