Can also video call others that have one. Speaker is loud too. Oh. Can also view security cameras.

He doesn't have to touch or do anything, we just appear on his screen. The speaker volume is sufficient for him to hear us too. The only challenge is that his lift chair and bed are a distance from the echo and the microphone does not pick up his voice at times. We love this product.

It came with an Echo show 5. Well, I thought I would buy show 8 while they were on sell. I immediately fell in love with it. They had babies, lots of babies. I now have 2 Echo show 5's, one 8 and one 10.1 as well as 2 Echo dots (3rd gen.) and one dot (4th gen,) w/clock.

My husband spends a lot of time in the shop and said we use these to communicate with each other a lot! Plus when the grandkids are here they really enjoy playing trivia games on them!

We use it also for reminders and alarm clock and so much more we can do with it. Most of all we are able to drop in to see our place. Wish we got the 10”.

I like the idea that you can always turn the camera off after talking to whomever you talk with. Also, listening to music, reminders, reminders for Amazon deliveries does a great plus and most of all got me a great deal with The Bestbuy. This a must, to get. Great buy

Q: QuestionI'm considering purchasing an Amazon - Echo Show 8 with Alexa for my elderly mother. I'd like to know what applications and capabilities this unit can provide that would help my mother?

- A:Answer I purchased a show for my father in a nursing home. With Covid 19 his nursing home has a no visitor policy during the pandemic. I now can drop in and FaceTime him without having to call the front desk. He is a stroke patient and can’t move his right side at all. He doesn’t have to answer verbally or touch anything with a drop in. I’m very grateful for the echo show!

- A:Answer It comes with everything needed for video chat/calls. Built-in camera, microphone, speaker, and screen. It has free video and audio calls between Echo devices and the Alexa mobile app. So you could get another Echo Show (or the Alexa app on your phone) and call her for free.

- A:Answer You can display photos from your Amazon photos but there are drawbacks. There is always other things on the screen no matter how you have the setting adjusted. It is not a true digital picture frame.
