Customers find value in the Fire HD 6" 16GB's ease of use, compact size, and affordability. Positive feedback also highlights the screen quality, sufficient storage, and generally smooth performance. While some find the device a bit heavy, most appreciate its long battery life and the inclusion of parental controls. The limited app selection compared to other tablets is a noted drawback for some users.

I love this little magenta beauty! I currently own a Kindle Fire (button) e-reader, and the first generation Kindle Fire HD 7 inch 2012 model. I have used my older Kindle Fire HD up to 8 hours a day, for everything from photos, to games, e-mail, to Face Book, internet research, reading, to art work. I expect to do like wise with this little beauty. It took me less that ten minutes from opening the package to complete set up including four e-mail addresses. The Wi Fi connected with out a hitch. For those who have mentioned they can't get out of an app and back to the home screen, you simply swipe up or down anywhere in any app, and the home icon appears, allowing you to easily get back home. Also there is a large white question mark on your screen that takes you to help instantly, a complete owners manual with a search engine to search out anything you may need to know, and quick access to Amazon help as well, with out having to search the web or their page for help. I love the size. It's perfect. I love the new features. The e-reader app has a new green back ground that is very easy on the eyes. The split, double screen is a plus, as all you have to do is swipe up from the bottom of the screen, and all your apps are there to see as well as using the famous Kindle carousel. It has a the capability of splitting the key board in half, making texting and typing a lot faster for those that text. I am not a texter. But I can quickly see the advantage here. I'm thrilled to find that my Fit Bit can be synced and paired to this, via the bluetooth, and Fit Bit app. What a plus! Even though my old Kindle had Wi Fi capability, that feature never worked. I will also be able to use a Wi Fi memory stick to save things, such as photos and art work to. As well as the Amazon cloud service. Even with the cloud to save to, I highly recommend getting the 16 GB over the 8 GB. As the applications to run the operating system takes up nearly 4 GB of space on your device. Leaving the 16 GB with an actual usage space of about 11 GB. The 8 GB device is likewise, leaving just over 4 GB of usage space. The cameras are not going to be of much use to me, I will use them in a pinch, but if you want a photo worth looking at, don't leave home with out a back up camera. It does come with a photo editing app. However, when using the back facing camera it is imperative that you and the subject remain absolutely still, anything moving will form a double image. I will try to post a photo with this review so that you will see what I am referring to. I took a picture at a red light, when the shutter snapped a car was passing by, by the time the device loaded the photo the car was gone, leaving a "ghost" image of the passing car. This only happens with the back facing camera. The front facing camera will not take a crisp image at all. Even with all the tweaking possible, the pictures are extremely grainy even in the brightest light. This is a huge disappointment to me, but not a deal breaker. I really need to talk to an Amazon tech to make sure I do not have a defective device. I get a message after each photo with the back camera saying to hold the device perfectly still while the photo is processed. Which took up to three to four seconds, so you can't shoot two photos one after the other. That being said. I love everything else about this Kindle. The browser is smooth, and quick. I have been booted off the device in the middle of something, but it, for the most part stays connected, and should I get booted it only takes seconds to reconnect. We are talking about a budget device. Well worth every penny spent. It feels good to hold, solid, not cheap, and the screen and graphics are wonderful and sensitive to the touch. The screen is the best, being made from Corning Ware Gorilla glass, it is made to stand up to use. No cheap screen. The graphics are awesome. I do like to play Run Temple, which is easy to play even with quick moves and the graphics are awesome. All of my apps transferred right over from my old Kindle, and all of them work perfect. I have many art applications, and photo applications that I will use with photos transferred from my Nikon. (Through Face Book transfers.) Books down load quick and are a pleasure to read. The internet is easy to access with no issues and I have no problem viewing videos from You Tube. The single speaker is Dolby, and is fairly loud. I am deaf in one ear and partially deaf in the other, and was able to hear the videos. My husband says the speaker is quite loud and had no trouble hearing what I was playing from 4 feet away. I would highly recommend this device. I will update this review after I speak to an Amazon tech about the camera issues. I am a semi professional photographer, and am quite critical when it comes to cameras. A camera is only as good as the lens it is supplied with. For teens who love selfies, this would be fun. You can draw on your photos and type on them as well as add little fun touchs. I am glad I got this as it is much more portable and weighs a lot less than my 7 inch Kindle. But I won't be parting with my old Kindle. This is so easy to use with one hand. I am a grandma of 8 who loves technology. As a book reader alone, with out all the other capabilities it is well worth the price paid. I had considered buying the paper white, and may do so in the future. With this, you have the best of both worlds. you won't be disappointed.

Got this rather than the 7 or kids edition for more gb.Ordered online because i was sure myDaughter wanted the pink/magenta & it wasnt avail anywhr. Product arrived reasonably quickly. Pretty easy to set up..Got the Amazon package with all the apps/games..& my 5yr old LOves IT!She's been making vidz, taking selfies..lal..downloading/playin games/apps..unfortunately we've already reached a limit (even w/ 16gb) & have to delete some things & this leads to the only drawback i've noticed thus far..memory not expandable..Other than that this is a great deal for the price. #Satisfied

Great Kindle for its size. It handles well and the graphics are clear.
