Good product
||Posted .Well, I love Kindle Fire. I bought its first generation years ago. It is different from ipad. Honestly I love both. You know kindle fire has collaboration with amazon, which is a good deal. Kindle fire is smaller than ipad, which is convenient to bring somewhere else. And it is cheap for family kids.

Great tablet for my mom
||Posted .This is a great little tablet for the price and fits my mom's needs exactly She's 72 and not afraid of technology but doesn't have a smart phone so the touch screen is brand new to her. So far it's been easy for her to use and she's excited about it. I chose it for her because she wanted an e-reader for trips but also would enjoy a few aps and games, especially skype. The only gripes so far are that the ads on the lock screen won't go away even though we turned them "off" and finding that setting took a while in the first place. I'm hoping there's another fix for that - and it's a minor annoyance. Lastly it's a bit heavy in her hand but again great for the price.

Nice little kindle tablet
||Posted .My latest Kindle is a delightful addition to my collection. I have 3 different e-ink kindles, and a 7" Kindle Fire HD. I've also purchased 2 Kindle HDX's for my daughters and they love them. Why purchase another one? Well technology continues to evolve and besides, I was able to turn in my 1st edition Nook Color and receive a $50 credit from Best Buy towards my 6" Kindle Fire. I still have a Nook e Ink reader, and my Nook Color hadn't been used in more than 2 years. Maybe I'm a little obsessive, but I never want to be without a book, e reader, or tablet wherever I go. I'm constantly reading, and with 200 books on my Nook and more than 7300 on Kindle, I'm never without a good read. Anyway, my 6" Fire HD is perfect because I can use it as a back up, take it to work, and access everything I need on it - including watching Amazon Prime movies and television. I still use my 7" Kindle Fire more than anything else, but the 6" Fire can actually do a little more. You know, all that evolving technology and everything. I love my new Fire and I would recommend it to all of my friends and family.

nice size for purses
||Posted .About the size of a skinny paperback and about as heavy as a thick paperback, this is a good reader and has decent movie playback. It runs Amazon Android which has some proprietary functions but nowhere near as bad as Apple devices. Processing is quick so programs run fast and smooth. I got it for my wife. She loves it. She wishes there were a way to increase the font size when running on the elliptical but said it was fine when reading on the treadmill. A lot of books to load in the first month of the free trial of Amazon Prime as well as Amazon instant movies with the purchase of the device. A nice incentive to buy it whenever you can buy it on sale. I got a great deal from Best Buy when they were giving $50 for any trade-in.

Great for streaming, poor battery life
||Posted .This little Kindle is great, especially for being under a hundred bucks. I do wish I would have gotten the 16 GB as the room on the device fills up quickly. If you are only streaming videos you will probably be fine with the remaining room being used for apps. If you are like me and download videos for the kids to use in the car, you will definitely want the extra room. In fact, I would say it's probably better to get the HDX and then upgrade to the 32 GB if you really want room to put movies on. Also, it could just be me used to my iPhone 6+ and iPad, but the battery life on this 6" Fire is subpar. It seems to last for a few hours, and then it's ready for a charge. We keep it plugged in while in the van on trips so it doesn't die, but when running on battery, be prepared to charge it frequently. Yes everything sounds negative about this review, but in truth, we really like the device. It is miles better than so many other $99 tablets out there, and my kids love it just as much as my wife's iPad Mini Retina. Probably the best Kids Tablet period, and a solid tablet for anyone for under a hundred. PS Kindle FreeTime for the kids is awesome! And one of the main reasons I bought the fire in the first place.

Amazon Fire 6" Tablet
||Posted .I purchased 2 of these units for my son (age 7) and daughter (age 9). They were quick to configure and they are used on a regular basis by each child. They use them for gaming, learning and web surfing all the time. They have quick response no matter where they are in the house or in other places. They are a bit fragile, my son dropped his and it did put a glass crack across it, but did not hurt the unit overall. We spent some extra money to get covers for them and no issues after. I think for the money they are a great purchase. My wife and I have an IPAD, but I find myself using their tablets more to surf the web and do online banking things..it is smaller and just more handy than the IPAD and I really do not notice any speed difference between the 2 devices. I am not an expert so that probably is not true, but for the casual user, I do not notice a difference. And lets face it there is quite a desparity in price.

Great Tablet for Teenager
||Posted .We wanted to provide our "pre-teen" with a device that could be used at home and on the road as we traveled. The device works well (as there are many apps to choose from - and growing) and allows our "pre-teen" to connect with us via text messages. The only down side is that he couldn't connect with Pinger/TextFree on an Amazon product (as this is only compatible with Android & Apple products). He was able to sign up with Text Me and we are connected all of the time.

Worth every penny
||Posted .I am an electronics enthusiast, so believe me when I say this was one of the devices I was most looking forward to for the coming holiday seasons. For the money, this is the most high quality feeling tablet and best performing, and for $100 you only do yourself a favor to get one for yourself or as a gift for others. For the price of an IPad, consider buying 5 of these to give amongst friends and family for the holiday seasons. Do remember what you are getting into though, it is not content filled like Android or IOS, but should provide just enough for you daily and basic entertainment needs.

Q: QuestionCan I use this device to connect to Netflix w/o separate Wi Fi?I'd like to cancel my home Windstream internet/WiFi. Can I use the Fire HD to stream content from my Roku?
Asked by Beck.
- A:Answer This model doesn't have 3G/4G services. Your going want to look in to the other models like the Kindle HDX that have cellular plans. To my knowledge this product meant to be a starter low end model but has decent spec for the normal user.

Q: QuestionSecond screenOnly available on the HD model ($99) and connected by USB or other port?
Asked by tjb.
- A:Answer Second screen only available in the HDX since it has the HDMI port. You'll have to get an MHL cable and/or box to port it over to the screen. I wouldn't since the chip in this unit isn't as powerful as the HDX to push the graphics. It's doing an okay job with the on screen graphics.

Q: QuestionWith or without "Special Offers"?The manufacturer sells two versions of this: one with "special offers" (advertisements) and one without. Which is this one? Thanks!
Asked by Steve.
- A:Answer We have this 6" Kindle Fire, and then I have three kids who each have the 7" version. All have the "special offers", which really just means that there are advertisements shown on the home screen and in the margins sometimes. They really aren't a big deal at all, and I see no reason to spend the extra money to avoid them.
