My Fire TV
|Posted .The FireTV is a winner for me so far. Fast and easy setup if you're already a Amazon member. I'm not a Prime member, but FireTV box is still very beneficial. Fast processor; good Wi-Fi connection; good built in Bluetooth feature; and good App choices already installed. Easy to side-load other Android Apps to it too (If you're techie). Purchased after I cancelled my ever increasing Comcast cable service. Great addition to digital antenna. Glad I purchased FireTV.

Love it
|Posted .Got it for my 60 y/o dad for his birthday but he didnt end up using it. Took it for myself and I love it! Netflix, Prime Viedo and tons of other channels with a seamless user experience and most superior voice search to date.

Great video streaming, ok gaming, smart TV box
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendAs a video streaming device, this little box is great. We use Netflix so I activated the free Netflix app. I like how there is a separate Netflix for kids app. The remote is small, lightweight and simple to use. The voice search is very accurate, but it only provides hits that belong to Amazon. How lame is that?! This device is clearly geared for use with Amazon Prime membership. Since I am a student and Get Amazon Prime for half price, I decided to try it out. It was very easy to set up using only my Fire TV remote. I don't think I would want to pay the full price for it. Netflix has a bigger selection of the stuff that I like. Whether you opt to subscribe to Amazon Prime or not, you will be bombarded with opportunity to spend money for Amazon products and services. I find that a bit distasteful. I like that there are kid friendly games available for free download. I researched buying a high-end gaming console like X-box but was turned off by the very high price and very limited selection of young-kid-friendly games. The fire TV is no match for a dedicated high-end gaming system, but it is all my family will need for a few more years. There is also a separate game controller available for purchase (if you don't want to use the simple remote controller). Many games require the optional game controller. I will probably be more interested in it when my 5 and 6 year olds become 7 and 8 year olds. To my disappointment, I haven't encountered any web browsing apps to download. I think that would be a nice enhancement (if they do it right). At any rate, I bought two of these to turn two big dumb HDTVs into big smart HDTVs. The tiny Fire TV box can be easily concealed behind the TV (since line of sight is not needed for the remote). A single HDMI cable between the Fire TV box and the TV provides both video and audio signals. The Fire TV supports WIFI so I stream wirelessly with amazing results. If you leave your TV on when finished using, a slideshow begins to play with a nice assortment of very scenic pictures that are replaced/updated from time to time so you don't get tired of looking at them. You have the option of putting personal/family pictures on Amazon (for free, I think) and using those as the screen-saver slide show source. If you want to rent a movie that you don't have available by subscription (Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Prime, etc.) you have only to press the microphone button and speak. Then, for a small fee, you can instantly stream the title of your choice. At least that's the theory. I haven't spent a penny on apps, movies or games (other than my monthly subscriptions) since I bought the thing. However, it does sound like a nice alternative to driving to the nearest video rental store and worrying about return dates and late fees. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Good but not ready for primetime
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThe good: super fast loading of Amazon content (whatever you choose starts in a split of second), the voice search feature is excellent, you just name a movie, series, actor, director, and all the relevant information pops up instantaneously. The bad: super fast loading only good for Amazon content but the device is still fast overall. Again, voice search only works for Amazon content, it doesn't search across other services like Netflix, HBO GO, HuluPlus, etc. The ugly: limited availability of apps, specially those that compete with Amazon Prime. There is no VUDU or any other service for your Ultra-Violet library. There is no Slacker radio, no Tune In radio, no Warner Movie Archive (great subscription service if you like to watch old movies and series) and the list goes on and on... My opinion: If you are into the Amazon ecosystem, this is the box for you, the interface is great, voice searching works like a charm and shows load in a split of second. I'm also sure Amazon will try to increase the number of apps but, as of right now, this it is not ready for primetime.

Great streaming box
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI really like this box. I also have a Roku 3, and this box responds to remote commands much faster and is easier to search on. I however dislike in the amazon app that when trying to watch free shows with your amazon prime membership it tricks you into paying for and buying the episode. You have to select "more ways to watch" then "prime". I feel like the box should already know based on the amazon account registered that the owner has a prime membership and default to that. Other than that, and the fact that the remote is an extra expense (kind of dumb)... I have no complaints.
Q: Questionfeesafter i brought this item, should i pay any monthly fee to watch all tv episode ,because nexflix charges that .
Asked by angela.
- A:Answer You always have to pay for content. If you have a Netflix account you can use it. If you don't have an account you can't. Simple.

Q: QuestionWhat is the differerance between the fire stick and the five tv box
Asked by kell.
- A:Answer The Fire TV box has wired and wireless internet (Stick only has wireless), Dolby Digital Plus and 5.1 surround sound (Stick only has Dolby Digital Plus), extra games that are too demanding for the Stick, it comes with the voice remote (stick comes with a normal remote), and has 2GB of memory (not storage - both come with 8GB storage, I'm referring to system memory used while running programs) instead of the Stick's 1GB. The Box is better if you're hooking it up to a home theater receiver. Other than that, they both run typical things like Netflix and Amazon Video. Both can sideload programs like Kodi to make it a media center, or run emulators for games (although the Stick can't handle some of the more demanding games). For day-to-day use (eg. Netflix), the Stick does not run noticeably slower than the box.

Q: QuestionAmazon Fire TV vs Roku 3 (box)Which one is better? Why/why not?
Asked by HollyDolly.
- A:Answer I have both and I have to say the Fire TV blows the Roku out of the water. The reasons are that a.) Fire TV has a much faster processor. b.) I use Amazon prime and Fire TV is geared toward Prime features. c.) and most of all you can "sideload" Kodi. If you aren't familiar with Kodi, Google it.

Q: QuestionI'm new to this. What is the monthly service fee for all those TV ChannelsI would like to know the amount of the monthly service charge for the TV Channels I only know how Netflix works. Can I use this to eliminate Comcast Cable. I realize I still need an Internet provider
Asked by Phil.
- A:Answer What channels are you referring to? I use mine mostly for Netflix, Hulu+ and Amazon Prime, but am considering subscribing to Sling TV. For $20/month you can stream 23 different "cable" networks, and if you like movies, you can add HBO for an additional $15/month. If you want access to all of your local channels, you need to get a digital antenna. They don't cost much, you can use it in the house, and in my area (I do live in a metro area) I get around 35 or so channels just from the antenna feed. So, it pretty much depends what exactly you're looking for. Hope this helps.
