Awesome!
|Posted .At first when I looked at the display model, I wasn't sure if I wanted it because it wasn't as fast as i was used to, in comparison to my iphone/computer. I decided to just go for it and purchase it, and now I'm so glad that I did! I like that I can instantly have whatever book I want in my hand within a minute. Another thing I like about this, is that I can just throw it in my purse and bring it anywhere! I love it now, and it's just so convenient. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves reading!

great reader on the market today
|Posted .I wished it was just a little bigger. But it does fit in my jeans back pocket. I bought it because my tablet always had a glare on the glass screen. This is just like reading a paperback book.

My most prized possesion
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendIt's been exactly three months since the day that I bought my Kindle Paperwhite. I bought a Kindle because I naturally enjoyed reading and I wanted a device with a nice battery. However I chose the Paperwhite because I didn't want any other distractions. I also thought it'd be pretty nice to have a device that can carry my entire book collection in as little 7.3 ounces. Before buying this device I had a cell phone that I would read on... Not only was that giving me headaches and causing my eyes to feel dry and uncomfortable, my phone battery would drain pretty fast too. I realized that reading ebooks on my Google Play Books app was something that I couldn't do forever. At that time I was still buying paper books and the books I would buy were usually around twenty dollars. I like to read but at that price I was more of a casual reader, maybe one book every three months. Then I thought why not buy an e-reader. So I did my research and committed to buying the Kindle Paperwhite. After buying it I realized that Amazon not only had millions of books in their ebook store(and that number is constantly growing), but their prices are so low compared to print. As a result I have increased the amount of books that I read. Now I read about two books a week. That might not sound like much but I have a crazy work schedule and I always love it when I can settle down for even just one hour to read. I didn't even know I liked reading so much, I didn't think for a second that I would give up on watching t.v., killing time on the web or playing video games just so I could spend more time reading(I would add social media but I gave up on that years ago). This Kindle Paperwhite has not only changed my life for the better, it has also become my most prized possession in doing so. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE WHO ASKED ME ABOUT IT.

We have two in our house!
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI bought my Kindle Paperwhite because I travel quite a bit for work and hate when I finish a book mid-way through a trip. Who wants to carry around multiple books in their bag when you need that extra room for shoes? (jk.... sort of) Reading on my iPad2 for long periods tends to hurt my eyes and holding it up for longer than a few minutes is a work-out. I didn't want or need another device with fancy apps or ways to watch Netflix. I just wanted to read fabulous books. The Paperwhite is so easy to read, I find myself flying through books on it. The backlight is an excellent feature that allows you to read just as easily in full sun by the pool as it does with the lights off in bed (without waking your spouse or partner). My husband loved mine so much I had to buy him his own to keep him from constantly borrowing it (and then leaving him empty handed when I left town for meetings and events). I've become an unofficial spokesperson for this product in my group of friends and peers.

Awesome e-reader
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis was a birthday present and I'm so in love! I had the kindle app on my tablet but it seemed like every time I wanted to sit down and read my tablet would be dying and thus would begin the search for a charger and outlet. I charge this once once every couple of weeks. The lighting option is great and I can easily adjust it so that it's comfortable to read. I'm an amazon prime member so I get a free book every month plus I can borrow books for free from amazon. Plus something that isn't mentioned and was a nice surprise to me was the GoodReads app built into the kindle.

Meets expectations
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThe Kindle paper white has some great features and great battery life (over a week with using 1-2 hrs per day). I do sort of wish the page turn keys were still available to use, but the touch screen works fairly decently. It doesn't seem to be very sensitive to my prompts to turn to next page, but menu bar and other icons are very sensitive to touch and work great. I've also paired this purchase with the kindle unlimited (pay flat fee each month and keep up to 10 book slots occupied- much like a library or rental service). This is a great money saver because if I had to purchase and keep each book I read- that would add up quickly! I don't particularly need to keep books forever (hence a kindle in the first place) and this lets me read a wide variety of books for practically nothing. After a couple of books a month it's already paid for itself. Highly recommend both the paper white kindle, and the kindle unlimited subscription.

Exactly what I was looking for!
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI used to be anti e-reader. Until I went on a trip to South America and only brought one book with-we had delay after delay and I finished that one book really early on in the trip-so my only option was to start at the beginning again. I was looking for a Kindle-just for reading. I didn't want the tablet. I read reviews on here, and asked friends, and went to my local Best Buy to actually hold them in my hand. I was trying to decide between the "regular" Kindle and the Paperwhite. I decided to spend the extra money on the Paperwhite because it was easier to hold without the buttons on the side-I felt like as I held it I would constantly be hitting the forward page button. I really like the touch screen, the backlight/lighted screen for reading in all conditions without glare. I also enjoy the X-ray feature-it's really neat. With the E-ink display, it's really easy on the eyes while reading. Friends were really surprised by how much the screen looked like book. I absolutely love it and use it all the time. It's so great to have my library with me at all times. Like when I finish a book at work, I can start my next book right away! Without lugging each book around! I would highly recommend this!

Simple Brilliance
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis thing is great for traveling. I love to read on vacation and this saves so much space when I want to bring along a few books. The screen is amazing. It looks like paper, kind of has a texture like paper does, and the touch controls are intuitive. This device does a lot of cool stuff, including letting you subscribe to magazines/newspapers/journals. You can borrow books and preview things. AND there's a pretty massive free library full of literary classics. Oh, and did I mention that books are cheaper on here than buying them new in physical form? That's pretty great. There are a few nit-picky things below about the device, but if you don't care about the small stuff just stop reading here and go buy one. If you still read those things called books, it'll be the best technology purchase you've made in a long time. It's simple to search for books or authors if you know what you want. However, it's sometimes difficult to browse the store if you don't really know what you want to read next or want to discover new things. This is largely due to the processor speed (it takes a second for things to scroll/change) and the limited screen/touchscreen capabilities. If you don't hit exactly the button or swipe you mean to it'll do something you didn't want it to do. It's by no means bad in that regard, it's just that the ease of navigating on smart phones and tablets has spoiled us all. If you find yourself annoyed with using the store on the device, just go on your phone/tablet/pc/whatever and add books to your Amazon wishlist. The wishlist is easily accessible on the device and books download pretty much instantly.
