    Synopsis

    Annie
The 1977 Broadway musical returns to the big screen with this Overbrook Entertainment/Sony Pictures production surrounding a 10-year-old Harlem foster child (played by Beasts of the Southern Wild's Quvenzhané Wallis) taken in by a calculating billionaire (Jamie Foxx) who's campaigning to be mayor. Abandoned by her biological parents as a baby, Annie (Wallis) spends every moment of every day attempting to avoid the wrath of her cruel foster mother Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). Thing start to look up for Annie, however, when she has a very public encounter with Will Stacks (Foxx), a local cell-phone mogul with mayoral ambitions. Stacks campaign isn't going too well until he meets Annie and invites her into his home at the suggestion of his trusted top assistant Grace (Rose Byrne) and his ambitious PR advisor Guy (Bobby Cannavale). Meanwhile, what was originally conceived as a PR stunt to win over skeptical voters becomes something much more personal when the jaded tycoon realizes his little friend is much more than a mere good-luck charm. Will and Jada Pinkett Smith produce alongside Jay-Z, with Easy A's Will Gluck directing. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, Rovi

First, this is not Orphan Annie growing up in the depression era as told by the movies in 1982 and 1999. If you approach this movie with that mindset you will be disappointed. This is an Annie growing up in a foster care situation after her parents abandoned her at an Italian restaurant named Domani's, which in Italian means tomorrow. This Annie isn't street tough as the original Annie was but she is street smart, optimistic, well mannered, and good natured. She longs to be reunited with her parents but makes the most of her present situation. Her life is changed when she literally runs into billionaire Will Stacks. Quevenzhane Wallis (Annie) lights up the screen and has a good screen chemistry with Jamie Foxx(Will Stacks). The songs are familiar but have been jazzed up for a modern day audience with the blessing of the original composers. In short, it's a good hearted movie filled with smiles and a few laughs. If you watch it with an open mind, this is good family entertainment.

Annie can really make any dreams come true. A girl who was a foster kid has one admonition and that is to find her parents and she will do anything it takes to make it happen. Along the way she is save by will stacks who is running for mayor and someone took pictures saving that Annie's life. Will Stacks became her legal guardian and Annie came to live with him. Annie help with will's campaign and he wanted to adopted her but Annie still wanted to find her parents and she would hope to find them real soon. Watch Annie and believe that tomorrow is another day. I'm telling you'll never forget it.

Unless you are a Broadway purist then this is a terrific new movie production of Annie with a bunch of new songs and a terrific cast. The new Annie is played by Quvenzhané Wallis and she sings wonderfully as well as Jamie Foxx who steals the show in his numbers and the big surprise was Rose Byrne who can also belt out a tune. Cameron Diaz has a nice comic role as Miss Hanigan and let's leave it at that. Totally kid friendly and fun!

The director of this movie ruined a perfectly good masterpiece! They shouldn't have touched that movie (1982 film). The Annie in this film singing Hard Knock Life is annoying compared to the classic. Don't waste your time with this one. It destroyed what's great about the original. It ruined my childhood. One of the biggest disappointments. The classic original is GOLD. This one is UTTER GARBAGE!

Good Family Movie. Lots of Extras on Blu-Ray. In the Making Of The Movie-there is a reference to "The Original" Annie-problem is-they don't realize "The Original" Annie is not the 1982 Annie Movie-it is the Broadway Production. Looking forward to the day when someone will make a movie based on the broadway Annie and it's off-broadway sequel Annie Warbucks and use the same cast in both movies.

This was one movie my 5 year old son kept asking to see. I took him to the theater and he loved it. Kept asking for the DVD but told him he had to wait for it to come out. Although the original was a favorite of mine, and there have been other remakes, this definitely wasn't horrible. Actually, I thought it was cute especially since they made it modern day. Definitely worth a watch.

loved this movie. I had no plans of watching it, but when my 6 year old granddaughter said she wanted to see it, I was all in. I was pleasantly surprised at the originality of this remake. I thought the story line was relevant and the music was amazing. The actors were perfect. I have watched it many times over.

Annie is a great movie. Plot is very different from the original movie but everyone in it plays their part really well. Jamie plays Mr. Stax , a man who owns a cell phone company. Cameron Diaz plays a funny Mrs. Hannigan. Quvenzhane Wallis does a terrific job with playing Annie!! I recommend a parent to sit down and enjoy the movie with your child.
