The prince with warts.
Posted .This is great for anyone why has his setup within the range of 15 feet. Though the setup is a bit tricky, it still works great and is very light weight. Its very compact and wireless-N based. The price of it is decent. But anyway the conclusion is.... Get it if you really need it.

Great for hotel use
||Posted .I bought this when I went to Prague. The hotel I stayed in charged $20 per day for wireless or free for wired. I plugged this in the wired and it allowed my mom and I free wifi for our stay!!

Airport express - excellent router so far!
Posted .I had a Belkin router that lasted for about 6 months. It started to drop its connection every 30 seconds at night, and had to be restarted constantly. I became frustrated with it so I researched new routers. I recently became a big fan of Apple products, buying both and Ipod Touch and a MacBook. At first I was not too interested in this router, since I also had a lot of wired connections to set up (this only has one ethernet port). After looking at the other routers available, I noticed that all of the ones under $100 (my price range) had mixed reviews. I noticed that this Apple express router was rated better than the others. I looked into it, and found some characteristics I liked about it: mainly wireless music streaming, wireless printing (although my printer already was wireless), and it was made by Apple which is known to have excellent build and performance. The down side was that it only had one ethernet port. The airport extreme had more ethernet ports, but was too expensive for me, so I ended up buying a cheap, but highly rated dynex wired router and the airport express. Heres what I did: I connected the wired dynex router to my cable modem, then ran an ethernet cable from that wired router to my airport express, and like magic, I had wifi (from the express) and wired connections (from the dynex router). The airport utility setup is easy and it asks you what you want to do with router, so I just told it I wanted to connected to another one and make it a bridge. Very easy setup. I have only had it for a few days, but it has not dropped any connections and the speed of the internet has been satisfactory. The music streaming is nice. I am still experimenting with it. One more thing: my house is a normal sized ranch (one main floor and a large basement). My bedroom is in the basement of my house, so I connected the airport express in my room (behind a large desk) in the basement. I feared that the wifi would have trouble traveling upstairs through the cement walls and the ceiling. I was wrong, the wireless signal is excellent throughout the whole house, even outside and in the garage. I am very happy with the wireless and am amazed at the distance of this little device. Overall, I would highly recommend this router. Do not forget to price match Apple for $99.

A versatile wireless solution...
Posted .This product has a variety of different applications around the home or office. At home I use the AirPort Express as not only a wireless repeater to extend the range of my wireless network, but also as a hub to connect my sound system and printer so that I can access them wirelessly from anywhere in my house. It especially comes in handy when I want to stream content or remotely control my iTunes library using my iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad. I have another AirPort Express, which I take with me on-the-go to work. At meetings where I have a Keynote/PowerPoint presentation, I am able setup a temporary wireless network so that I can remotely control slideshows on my Mac using an iPad or iPhone/iPod. This way, as people are viewing my slides I am able to face my audience while still being able to glance down at any presenter notes I made. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this product as a stand-alone wireless base station simply because of its limited range unless you live in a small home or apartment (you can get cheaper wireless routers for this purpose). However, it is extremely useful as a wireless repeater, and as a hub for wireless printing and media streaming. No matter where you plan on using this base station it has a variety of uses while also being portable enough for you to take anywhere. It's pricey for its size, but definitely worth the money in terms of its features.

Airport used as a wireless range extender
Posted .We bought this to use as a range extender for our Airport Extreme that unfortunately had to be located on one side of our very spread out home. The Airport is plugged into a wall socket about 1/2 way across the house and has extended the range of our network to not only the far side of the home but also to the garage and out onto our patio. Since it's mounted on the plug I didn't even have to find a surface to set it on so there's less clutter! Setup was surprisingly easy considering we're running four wireless Windows machines on the network in addition to our iPads, iPods, Apple TV and iPhones. One of the surprising benefits to this extender is that my old Windows 98 laptop automatically finds the network every time I turn it on. With my older Logitech router and Hawking extender I usually had to repair the connection every time I started the machine up - now it just finds the network and works. AND it does it very quickly - much faster than with the older Logitech router. This helps my Apple TV to load programs from iTunes and Netflix with very little lag time. No more stopping and starting like with my old Wireless N devices. Sure, Apple products are usually a price premium over other devices on the market but the ease of setup and use coupled with the overall user experience makes them a good value for me.

Instant Hotel wifi for iPad
Posted .I lover my IPAD and use it more thn my laptop. Especially when traveling, Biggest issues I have had is that a lot of the hotels I stay in have wired ethernet, but not wireless (Go figure why the top level Marriot logo has only wired and the cheaper Farifield logos are wireless - and FREE) . I bought the APE as a mobile wireless router. It had to be set up through the laptop (Could not configure through the iPAD), but once configured it works likea charm. Plug it in to the ethernet cable in the hotel room and viola - instant wifi fro the iPad. Been using it for 6 months now with no issues. it is small and compact and fits in my computer bag very easily.

Great Product!
Posted .Recently I have been looking at wireless printers and also surround sound systems. I primarily want the stereo for when I play my iTunes. This is the perfect product for me. I am a HUGE fan of apple products so I was browsing Apple's website to see what they offered before purchasing a new printer. When I found this product I was very excited. I read the reviews on it (as i always do before purchasing anything) and was a little disappointed by the bad reviews this product has. Based on the feedback people said they have issues setting up the network. Well I just got home roughly 30 mins ago and I am already set up and using the device. I have already printed wirelessly, browsed the web, and I am currently listening to iTunes without connecting my iPod to my stereo system. So if you have spent more than 30 mins working on setting this up then MAYBE you should consider giving apple a call and telling them you aren't the brightest crayon in the box. ;) OVERALL i am happy with the device and would recommend this to anyone.

Q: Questiondoes this plug in and give you internet or do u need to have internet to use it?
Asked by kitkat.
- A:Answer It is basically a wi-fi receiver, so you need wi-fi to use it. It does not give you independent Internet services.
