Great router for Apple users
Posted .I had no idea that Apple made routers. I just got internet with Verizon/FiOS/Frontier for $30/mo with 100Mbps which is the same speed I had with Charter/Spectrum who I love but I wanted to cut a lot of costs and needed cheaper internet service for the time being. Anyways when Frontier came they installed my internet inside of my son bedroom closet, now I still get my service and my TVs run along with all of my wireless devices there is no lag but I want my bars to be full instead of lacking one. I think it’s obviously because of where it’s now located instead of my living room so I was looking for a WiFi extender. Frontier has me on an annual contract (which I don’t mind) so I won’t get charged a monthly router fee. Now had I kept my internet with Charter I was going to buy me my own router anyway, but once my year contract was up with Frontier I was going to have my own router as well. When the guy came to install my internet I asked him what routers are compatible with Frontier and he said Apple and Nighthawk. Now clearly Netgear has many Nighthawk models so which one was I supposed to choose? I dont know so I went to Apple and saw the Extreme and the Express and I felt the Extreme would be the better one to go with. The fact that it is a WiFi router as well as a WiFi extender and has a built in firewall made me choose it. Plus I saw a couple reviews that mentioned they had Charter/Spectrum or Verizon/FiOS/Frontier for internet so I made my choice because if I choose to leave Frontier and go back to Spectrum my router will be compatible plus I have an iPhone, my son has an iPhone, I have an iPad Pro, my son has an Apple Watch and I have an Apple tv streaming device connected to my Samsung tv in my living room. Apple advises that if you have Apple devices then you connect them to the Apple Extreme plus I can connect my Windows desktop and lab top computers to it as well as my Brother wireless printer as well as my Samsung and TCL Roku TVs. If you have Apple devices then this is the router you should have in your household.

Reliable, easy to setup, powerful Wi-Fi signal
|Posted .Whether you're a Mac or Windows user, this Apple Extreme router is THE ONE to get. Just connect it to your modem with an ethernet cable and your Wi-Fi is set automatically and instantly. No WPS connectivity required. With a modem and Apple Extreme router in my basement (the absolutely worst place to locate these devices) the Wi-Fi signal carries to the upstairs in my 3,600 sq. ft. house -- far better than the Wi-Fi router in my Xfinity gateway modem. So I turned off Wi-Fi on the modem and let the Extreme do the work. I highly recommend this router.

Keeps up with the today’s high speed Internet
|Posted .After having used an older Airport Extreme Base Station (flat model) for several years, I found that it was unable to keep up with the new high speed Internet I recently switched to (200 MB). So, I got this newer model, and it works like a dream. Bear in mind, though, that in April 2018 Apple decided to discontinue its WiFi routers. So, this is the last of the line ... unless the company decides in the future to bring them back. But, I figure in the meantime, I’ll be good to go for a couple of years with this one. (In the picture you will see that I have it inside a cabinet behind the TV, yet I am able to pick up WiFi beautifully throughout my small house.)

Excellent Router
|Posted .I purchased this router as an upgrade from a D-Link Xtreme Gigabit (DIR655). After purchasing a 2014 iMac I wanted a router that could feed it as quickly as possible. Router set up is as easy as it gets, although you give up some of the controls other routers in this price range offer. Range covers my 2000ish sqft home extremely well. One of my other favorite things about the Airport extreme is the way it looks. It's not so much that I care, but my wife doesn't complain about how ugly it looks sitting out in the open. So far there have been no bandwidth distribution issue. Often there are 3 users streaming Netflix simultaneously. I would definitely recommend this router to those looking for an easy upgrade from a G or N router model.

GREAT PRODUCT
|Posted .I purchased the Apple AirPort Extreme (WiFi) Router 5 years ago and I have never had an issue with it. I based my experienced from the last AirPort Extreme WiFi Router and was very happy with the product. It was recommended that I purchased the AirPort Extreme WiFi Router because we had multiples Apple electronics devices ([5] iPods; [2] IPads and [3] Laptops). The AirPort Extreme price was a bit higher than the other WiFi but I'm not a computer genius and to plug and go. I'm all for making my life simple. I felt like a genius for purchasing the item. :D

Apple at it's best
|Posted .Works perfect with my iMac, I have 1 gb service into my house via fiber. Without a router directly wired to my computer the speed is about 970 gb/s. Going through the router the speed is 900 mb/s down and 230 mb/s up. So the router does slow it down some. Wireless is giving me about 300 mb/s as that is the speed limitation of wireless technology even though Apple states that it is 1 gb/s wireless. Very pleased and have another that extends my network in the attic without having to switch rulers on my wireless devices.

Best Router Money Can Buy
|Posted .I've owned different routers: LinkSys, Net Gear and Cisco. None of them compare to the Airport Extreme. Entire family have apple products and where they had weak or no signal at all, now they have an incredibly strong signal, even outside on the driveway. My Note 4 also has gotten better WiFi. Aee attached pic I would not only recommend it to a friend but to all people who are in the market for a really awesome router. You will not regret it.

Q: QuestionI have an older AirPort Extreme. Is the newer model more powerful. The old one doesn’t cover the whole house.
Asked by RayH.
- A:Answer Apple claims that the newer model boasts multiple internal antennas and offers 3X the performance of earlier access pointers and routers (802.11ac vs. n). I am not in a position to benchmark it speedwise, but I live in a large (4500 sq.ft) concrete block construction house with difficult WiFi coverage, and with the new Extreme I get strong signal in almost every room - even the garage.

Q: QuestionWill it replace ATT router?
Asked by Arbor.
- A:Answer Yes, I used it to replace my AT&T-installed wifi router. Had to convince the AT&T technician to disable the AT&T wifi router who said, “This may not work” and replace theirs with this AirPort Extreme, but my wifi range is much better and it works great. All the vendors want to sell you their router, but for AT&T, you don’t need it — you can use this Apple AirPort Extreme just as well. Before AT&T, I had Cox Internet and used this same AirPort Extreme connected to the Cox modem as my wifi router.

Q: QuestionWhat is the approx square footage that one device will cover? How may devices will be needed to cover a 4000sp from home ?
Asked by BStitt.
- A:Answer I just solved that problem and have some advice! I used the AirPort Extreme in my last house 2600 sq ft with no issues, recently I bought a new house, with 4100 sq ft on half an acre with 2 stories I noticed the AirPort Extreme was not running like before. The connections would drop often and the signal was weak in numerous areas, I added a second AirPort Extreme as a range extender with no real improvement unfortunately. I decided to upgrad to a mesh system since Apple discontinued the AirPort Extreme, first I went with the Linksys Velop (3 node) system. I was immediately disappointed as the speed actually slowed down compared to the AirPort Extreme by almost half! I researched some more and exchanged it for the Eeros system (3 access points) and have been blown away! The speed almost doubled across the house, no more dropped signals and it is extremely easy to manage. My Ring doorbell has never responded so quick, my security camera load in a fraction of the time and the smart switches/plugs do not drop from the network. I can stream 4K on 2 separate TV’s while the kids and wife are online without any issues. I have over 50 smart home devices and they all respond quicker then ever before. I would highly recommend the Eeros system or at least a mesh system for a large house. I would highly recommend the Eeros system or at least a mesh system for a large house. Good Luck, I hope this saves you a headache or two!

Q: Questionwhat is the best modem to go with Airport Extreme router besides the airess?
Asked by kmiller.
- A:Answer The more important question is which modem is compatible with your Internet Service Provider. You need to lookup which modem handles the appropriate speed and protocols that your ISP requires. Any modem will work with the Apple AirPort Extreme or AirPort Time Capsule.

Q: QuestionDo you have to pay in order to use it ?
Asked by Ken.
- A:Answer Once your purchase the base station and hook it up, there are no other fees. Of course you pay every month for the internet service you have. I believe this airport version is your wifi base and your back up drive. But by now, you probably have already figured this out. Hope it works well for you and lasts a long time.
