iPad mini 3 black/silver
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I find the iPad mini to be perfect for what I use it for (It's a great middle ground between my smart phone and my computer). The iPad mini 3 is perfect for travel, it's very portable and easy to use. It has lots of apps (although some of my favs are only available as knockoffs and not the originals so check if something you must have is in the App Store first if that's a deal breaker). The screen resolution is the same as the bigger iPad so it should actually be better looking with same pixel count in smaller area (haven't used both side by side to compare though). The speaker is ok, nothing to write home about, for best sound use headphones. I find the battery life is good getting a full day of use from a full charge (using auto brightness setting). And now for the problems, 1, charging port is on the bottom, the cord gets in the way all the time when its plugged in and I'm using it. (Some apps don't rotate so forced to deal with this issue) 2, touch screen imprecise at best and no way to calibrate (that I could find anyway and I tried settings, Siri search, and even google searched it). It gets absolutely horrible when typing and trying to select a word to delete or change, it never seems to go to the place you want in the text and you have to do a tap dance around the word till it finally does. 3, it is VERY easy to drop! GET A COVER, or at the very least a screen protector! I dropped mine 3 times the first day I had it, and I'm in no way clumsy, because of the smooth surface (just lucky it fell on soft things when it happened), I bought a cover for better grip on day 2 and still dropped it a few more times since. So be warned! All in all it's a great product, has the same screen resolution of its bigger sibling yet much more portable. Screen is crisp and easy to read. Sound is ok. Battery charge gives a full day of use. If you have unlimited data on your cell phone, get wifi only version and tether for no wifi areas. If you pay per gig, get wireless version and best data plan from your carrier for the iPad, you will eat through your allotment fast.

My iPad, my lifeline
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This iPad mini 3 is a replacement for my iPad mini, first generation. It is much more responsive to the touch thsn the original iPad. The touch recognition feature is a great improvement. I use my iPad daily, all day long to read my email , surf the web, do word procrssing, interact and play games on Facebook and as my primary camera. This iPad has a much larger memory than my previous one 128gb vs. 16 gb. I should not run out of space any time soon. One new feature, the touch recognition is both a pro and a con. Once daily your passcode must be manually entered. That is fine. Using my thumb my iPad instantly recognizes me and it can easily be set to recognize a second user also.. The down side is that every time, I set my iPad down, it immediately goes to a lock screen and it must recognize me once again. This is probably no big deal, but it is annoying to me. First I must swipe the screen to wake it up and then use either a thumb print or my passcode to continue what I was doing. With my old iPad I could set the time before it went to lock screen, usually 5 minutes. It has a great camera, easy to use key board and the screen is very sensitive to the touch. The biggest drawback I have found to my iPad mini 3 is that the speaker volume is much lower than the volume on the original iPad. Another new feature that is both a pro and con is the ability to use it as a phone. Your iPhone must be near-by for this feature to work. The pro is that the phone is right here in my hand. The reception is good, and it is easy to use. The Con is that when the phone rings whatever you are working on instantly disappears and a phone screen appears. If you answer your iPhone it does go back to whatever you were doing before. Thus can be a pain if you are in the middle of something . I would like to disable this feature. None the less I love my tablet and would definitely recommend it to my friends.

Excellent
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got an excellent deal on this IPAD mini 3. I have the 128GB model. It's great! I can throw everything I want on it, multiple podcasts, kindle books, audio books, movies, games, pictures and NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER ever run out of space. The screen is a bit smaller than the Air 2 model but it's fine. The camera is not as good as an iPhone but do you really buy an iPad to take pictures? I picked up a case and blue tooth keyboard to use. Lightning power cord and all other apple accessories work fine. I would strongly recommend buying a case, preferably one where you can prop up the tablet to read it from your desk. More importantly get screen wipes. I use them all the time. Also might want to look in a battery power pack if you travel a lot. I get about 6 to 8 hours of heavy use on the battery. I picked up a FREMO P130 13000mAh Power Bank Charger from NewEgg for traveling when I can't always find a place to plug in. Would not recommend Applecare. Not worth it.

Great Things Come in Small Packages
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are iPad airs, iPad Pro's, and iPad mini's. Which one you like best is up to you, but if you want great performance and the benefits of the retina display on a space saving more mobile easy to tuck away platform, look no further than this iPad mini. Sure it's specs are a little short of it's big brothers the Air and Pro, however this little guy is no slouch. Yes, there is a ton of memory included, which over time will get used up. I went from a 16gb that I was constantly having to delete games and movies just to fit new stuff on, to this monster that can hold as much as I can throw at it and then some. It's easy to go cheap and get a smaller memory model, but you will find, that with time, you will wish you hadn't. This iPad mini is zippy in performance, as well as multitasking. Great for the price when on sale and size. You will not regret!

Why the iPad mini 3?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While I bought the Space Gray iPad Mini 3, I am swapping it for the Gold version. There's not a lot to say for the Mini 3. It really is last year's model with a tad update. It got gold coloring, Touch ID and $100 cheaper. However, I gave my Space Gray Mini 2 to my wife. This was an upgrade over her iPad 2 (16GB) to a Retina 128 GB Mini. So, why go with the Mini 3? Those very same improvements. Gold, Touch ID and cheaper price! Are they "THAT" big of a deal? I think so. The speed will not be as great as the Air 2, but it's still no slouch! What was great about the Mini 2 will also be great about the Mini 3! It still has desktop computing power and is less than what I paid last year for the Mini 2! The Mini 2 has been a great iPad for the last year and there is nothing that indicates the 3 won't be just as great! Do I wish they had at least given it the A8X chip set? Yes, but I have had no issues with the iPad Mini 2. It has done everything extremely well. So, I can't fault Apple for not giving it more 'umph'. Perhaps Apple didn't want the 3 competing with the 6Plus. Some have suggested Apple is replacing the 3 with the Plus, if not this year maybe the next. I hope not. I need my iPad to be at least the Mini's size. I switched from the iPad 4 to the Mini 2 because of its size which is great for my needs. The gold, Touch ID, and $100 price reduction are just icing on the cake!

ipad 3
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this as a gift, so it may not be the one i would have picked, the mini form factor is nice, but since i have a note 4, i find the mini to be a bit redundant in some respects, especially at 16g, but its still a great tablet, as quick or quicker than my iPad 3 and much handier to carry around, more kindle like in that respect. I use Fuji X cameras, and this makes a handier sized (to carry around) remote control/viewfinder that is small enough to throw in the camera bag. My reason for not giving 5 starts is i feel this form factor may be fading, with all the larger phones that have similar and even more capabilities, and the camera isn't the 8 mp unit that even my 3 year old iPhone 4s had, but a 5 mp unit, come on apple? I did a little research, and it seems less than 5% of apples tablet orders are mini's. Maybe my opinion isn't far off.

The perfect down-sized upgrade
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this product for my wife, to replace her old iPad 2. It still works great but it is a little slower and, being a 16 GB model, was bursting at the seams with content (pictures, especially). It was also a bit on the large size for her liking, though it served her well for over 4 years. We bought this model, which was much more her size and she loves it. The 128 GB ensures that she will have a hard time filling it up, seeing that it took 4 years to fill up the 16 GB model. The processor is much faster and the built in camera is superior to our previous model, so she can use this to actually take pictures vs. having to use her iPhone or a digital camera, and then transfer them. The touch ID is also a great security feature. Definitely happy with this product.
