    Great Phone

The iPhone 7 is a great phone for everyday tasks. The phone has a very solid build with a metal back and a matte black finish that doesn’t slip in your hand. The matte black also doesn’t show fingerprints like most shiny phones do. The front of the phone is a durable glass that does show fingerprints but cleans easily and is scratch resistant. The power and volume buttons are placed nicely on the sides where they are rarely accidentally pressed but can be easily pressed when needed. The overall size of the phone is great with it not being too large where you can’t access all of the screen with one hand but is still large enough to easily read any text and watch any videos. The iPhone 7 also has a new home button that doesn’t physically move like previous iPhone’s did. Having previously owned an iPhone 6 the button is very different on this new phone but is very easy to get used to. The amount of haptic feedback is adjustable so you can make it feel exactly how you want. After just a few hours with the phone the new home button seemed just as natural as the previous home button. Included in this home button is a fingerprint scanner that is much faster than the scanner in the previous phones. Although the iPhone 7 was the first iPhone without a headphone jack, it isn’t a large issue for day to day use. There are many Bluetooth headphone options that allow you to listen to music or other media while also charging your phone. Since the phone doesn’t have an audio jack there is another speaker on the bottom that makes the speaker quality much better and louder than previous iPhones. The front and rear facing cameras on the phone are both very good for their respective tasks. For those looking for a more professional photograph the iPhone 7 plus may be the better option. For the everyday user that isn’t serious into photography they both take very good pictures. Overall the iPhone is a great improvement from previous generations of iPhones. The overall build quality and design make it a very good looking and durable phone. This phone is great for those who use their phones for everyday communications, playing games, and just about every other task a smart phone can do.

Few things to be aware of.....

Generally this phone is good, depends what you want/need I think. I upgraded from Iphone 4 so pretty big jump. Best Buy sales associate very good transferring my data from old phone. It took awhile but she knew what she was doing and the store wasn't busy the day I was there. When I got home the phone would not go to sleep. I tried without the case, it still reactivated whenever I put the phone over to my bag or even when I moved with the phone. It would power down but it was the sleep mode that didn't work. I googled for info and seems others have had the same problem. I tried going back to Best Buy in case the phone was faulty but they didn't know what the problem was and couldn't fix it. I eventually contacted Apple support chatline and they first did a diagnostics to confirm my phone was ok and had no problems. Then they tried a few things in settings like changing Autolock to 3 secs/reboot etc and nothing worked UNTIL we deactivated Rise To Work....instant fix and I have had no further problems on the sleep mode, hurrah as my battery was draining before. I do get a few annoying messages to download stuff and telling me I am driving (when I am not) I think its my choice what and when I do it anyway so not happy with Apples interference. Early days yet but so far I've lost a few hours getting these things ironed out and no-one online I can see has fixed the sleep mode yet or reported how to solve the problem anyway.

Great Product With Some Design Issues

I was using an iPhone 5S and I was quite satisfied with it until its battery started to die very quickly. Instead of taking risk and replacing its battery on my own, I decided to go for an iPhone 7. No doubt, it's a perfect smartphone. However, when it comes to design, I have issues. In terms of design aesthetics, it's just perfect. I got the matte black one and I absolutely love the way it looks. Apple finally removed the ugly stripes behind the phone after iPhone 6 and 6S series and that was a great move for sure. Aesthetics aside, I think, ergonomically, iPhone 6 and 7 are not as good as iPhone 5, 5C, 5S and 5SE. iPhone 7 is slightly larger than iPhone 5 and it makes the screen unnecessarily harder to navigate. Your finger doesn't reach the top of the screen so you have to force it or double tap the home button to slide the screen down a bit. I think that's absolutely unnecessary and even weird. iPhone 7 Plus is OK. If you want that kind of a huge screen on your phone, that's OK, but the difference between iPhone 5 and iPhone 7 (and 6) screens is something I don't understand. And the feel in your hand... iPhone 5 feels quite solid. You grab it and automatically hold it securely. iPhone 7 has a huge risk of getting slipped from your hand, like 6 series (and even more). Good design is not 'beautiful' design. Good design is the design that works. I think Apple started to miss that part after Steve Jobs passed away. Other than that, great product.

Phone is great--but Best Buy's policy is terrible!

After 15 days of use on my iPhone 7, in the middle of a call, while simply sitting at my desk, the other party suddenly asked me "did you go outside?" Within another 2 minutes, I became completely unintelligible, though I could hear the party I was speaking to with 100% clarity. We ended the call and I called back, thinking it may have been a poor connection, with the same result. Changed locations to ensure it wasn't a bad cell tower, same result. Took the phone back to Best Buy, where the Geek Squad ascertained it was indeed a defective speaker. However, Best Buy/AT&T's policy is to only exchange phones for 14 days. As this was day 15, they wanted to send it out for service. I don't know of anyone who is willing to be without a phone for days on end. I called Apple from the Best Buy parking lot and the CSR was extremely helpful, getting me an immediate appointment at the Apple Store, even though they did not have any appointments at the store for another five days. Got to Apple and after waiting less than 5 minutes, Genius Bar rep was able to see me, run diagnostics on the phone, and swap it out. Lesson learned--I'll never buy another phone from the Best Buy Store again and will simply go straight to the Apple Store to save a lot of time and frustration.

Returned Samsung Galaxy S8 for iPhone 7 - Happy!

I don't like the direction that Samsung is heading with their flagship curved screen candy bar shaped phones. I have owned several recent Galaxy S phones, including the S8. None have come close to iPhone quality and reliability. If you want cheap and max flexibility, go with Android. If you want design excellence, better security, great support, incredible ecosystem w/super reliable interoperability, and stable apps, go with with Apple iPhone. Since switching to the iPhone, I have purchased a MacBook Pro. Now Windows 10 seems like a bad joke. Bottom line, Apple controls the hardware and base software, the others don't and it shows in the inconsistency of the experience (not great) between their products. Finally, a dedicated audio/aux port on the iPhone 7 would have been nice, but I am not a serial ear bud wearer and my Bose headphones have bluetooth, never been a issue for me. Also, iPhone battery life is unmatched, so not hunting for a plug/charger throughout the day. Life is good.

What can I possibly say in an IPhone review that is new under the sun. I'll keep it specific to my needs and maybe others who have similar needs in a phone will find this helpful. First off, for those comparing this to the now discounted 6s, the 7 is noticeably faster. That alone is worth the extra money. The size of the 7 (compared to the 7plus) hits the sweet spot for me. 4.7 inches is just right for fitting in pockets and having owned 'phablet' sized phones before, I can say that becomes a big deal if you work a physical job bending over or bumping into things all day. 32 gigs is fine for me. I don't store many videos, just pictures and music. I don't need every app ever made, just the basics. The camera is good enough, and as I use Apple's ecosystem the IPhone is the way to go. I wish it were more customizable like Android, but honestly tweaking a home screen until it's just right doesn't really add any usefulness to a phone. Can't go wrong!

I bought this phone for my father in law. It's several steps up from his old 5! Really quick and the screen is very crisp. He was very excited (he's 83 years old), so the main thing was to make him happy. When goiig over the phone with him, I too was curious about the difference between this one and the iPhone 6s (the one that I have). There is little difference in screen resolution, and a slight difference when it comes to opening apps. When taking pictures there too was little difference between the 6s and 7. When my wife joined the party with her iPhone 6, and we started comparing images, the 6s and 7 won out. Overall if I have something older than a 6s I would definitely get the 7..it would be highly recommended. But, to me, there was very little difference between the 6s and 7 for me to make the upgrade. So for those who have a 6s, you may want to examine one at Best Buy before investing your hard earned cash.

Awesome Iphone but battery runs down kinda fast

I love my new IPhone so far, not much changes from my IPhone 6 except for the kinda touch home button no head phone jack. As far as features seems to go its pretty much the same as the IPhone 6. Those of you complaining about NO HEAD PHONE JACK, there is a charge cable right behind the ear buds with a head phone jack on one side that you can plug your head phones into, one end goes into the phone an other end you plug in your head phones. Also the battery seems to run down kinda fast if your using it a lot. It would be nice if Apple could make the battery last longer so it doesn't run down fast. Iike on most all smart phones the issue is always seems to be the battery running down to quickly. So other than the battery issues the phone it self seems to be pretty good. I don't know if its actually waterproof or water resistant or not put I wouldn't purposely put it some water an test it out. Well I am pretty happy with this IPhone 7.
