Great for the price!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI have boycotted against getting an iPod for ages. One day, I decided I wanted a little one for working out and after reading all of the reviews, and comparing GB for the price, I decided this was the best bang for the buck. I almost bought the last generation - and I'm glad I did not after learning the controls were all in the headset and if it broke, you would be faced with an expensive pair of headphones to replace. This is really a great product and I love the voice feature that tells you the name of the song and artist at the touch of a button. The only slight compliant I would have is sometimes in trying to reclip the player, if it's on, I end up accidentally hitting the back button and going to a previous song. Minor issue, yes, but it's worth mentiong. Overall, I'm a very satisfied customer!

Perfect entry level ipod for music only
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWe purchased this for a child to replace a Samsung Shaker MP3 player which ate up batteries and took more steps to get music onto. Being able to charge the Ipod shuffle and put songs onto it directly from itunes is a big advantage. We already have several other ipods in the house and an extensive itunes library. As he can't manipulate buttons and screens we needed something basic to just be able to turn on the music and let it play through the playlist. If you want more control over choosing what songs play you are better off with a Nano or higher which have screens to view your songs and the ability to choose a specific song to play at any given time. The shuffle will play songs in the order they are on the unit or in "shuffle" mode only. You can't select a specific song without continually pushing a button to pass by each song until you reach what you are looking for. The shuffle does not have its own speakers so has to be used with headphones (basic earbuds are included) or connected to another speaker. We bought a small handheld speaker which works fine. The shuffle is obviously for music only as there is no screen to utilize apps or videos. It is durable, compact, has good song capacity and holds a charge well.

Perfect for an active lifestyle
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI bought the 4th generation iPod shuffle because I wanted to listen to music and podcasts while working out. The inexpensive price, compact design and simplicity is what attracted me to this model. The lack of a screen and the inclusion of the voiceover feature is great for exercising because it isn't necessary to look at the iPod to change tracks. Just press a button and continue on without much interruption! I'm clumsy so this helps me to stay focused on what I'm doing and keeps me from falling on my face. The built in clip is strong and the audio is loud and clear. The return of the buttons is welcomed back and the 15 hours of battery time is pretty amazing due to its small size. I picked green because I got nostaligic for my old green iPod mini. Where's a 4 GB option? The 3rd generation shuffle had one. It's not a huge deal but I like to listen to podcasts and audio books from time to time. 2 GB doesn't go a long way and it sometimes forces me to be picky. Maybe Apple will update it with more storage later.

few qualms
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis is a great device, there are two minor things that get on my nerves however. The first is that unlike the previous iteration of the Shuffle, the body is smaller. While this could be a good thing, when I go to clip it to my jacked or running pants I inevitably end up skipping a song or two because there's no room between the end of the button and the edge of the device. The second is the voice over capability. Its a good idea, but I can't always hear it clearly over the music, no matter how low the music is. Like I said, only two minor things. Its a great product overall. Battery life is great and it stores all the music I want.

Fantastic
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI bought this for the wife to use at the gym and running. She loves how lightweight it is and after having owned several different ipods in the past, this one is by far her favorite. I thought that she would miss not having a screen to thumb through music but it will actually read the name of the song and/or the playlist when you press a certain button (it sounds like Stephen Hawking but it is still a great feature). For the price, you cant go wrong. Get it for the gym or for running, load up your favorite playlist and GO!

Great for runners.
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI love my shuffle! I use it at the gym...and when I'm out running. I own an ipod classic which I used to take on runs - but it was too bulky and awkward on my arm. I couldn't see spending an extra hundred dollars for the touch screen...the shuffle perfectly meets my needs!

great first iPod
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI bought this for my learning disabled daughter and she loves it. It is very easy to use for her and holds enough songs for her use. As soon as we get in the car, the iPod comes out and she starts listening to her music. Any other iPod has too many features for her use or are more expensive than I would want to spend. This is perfect.
