My name is Melissa and I'm a MAC
Posted .This is my first macbook purchase. I have waited over 2 years to buy one ever since my personal pc laptop has been "sick." I am glad I waited as long as I did because my first apple purchase went very smoothly! Setting up my mac was as easy as 1,2,3! Turn it on, answer a few questions, pick your username and password, take a picture of yourself, denote what form of wireless internet you are using and the macbook takes care of the rest! It sets everything up for you! I love the fact that the software syncs all of your emails in one place as well as your chat options (AIM, Google chat). The iphoto is my favorite! You can sync your photos to facebook without having to save them to your photo folder and upload them through the internet! Before buying my mac, I conducted over a year of research and visited the nearest apple store location as much as I could to play around with the macbooks and "pick" the employee's brains. Everytime I visited, I fell in love with the macbook more and more. The only thing that stopped me was spending over a 1000.00 for a computer. I couldnt afford it! All of my "pro-pc" friends kept telling me, "you can buy a PC for 700! Dont do it!" But I really wanted my macbook! If apple didn't upgrade the base model of the macbook, I would of spent about 300.00 more to buy the base model of the macbook pro. SAVE YOUR 300.00!! The redesigned macbook runs BETTER than the pro! I would of purchased directly from the apple store but Best Buy's financing won me over! How can you pass up 18 months, no interest financing?? I am paying as little as 60.00 a month to own my new macbook! The macbook of your dreams is in your budget! Just take advantage of the financing! And my pro-pc friends are starting to fiddle around with my new macbook and are falling in love too!

Super! Love it!
Posted .This computer is awesome! This is my first Mac after many years of using PCs. I've been through 2 PC laptops within the last 4 yrs. so I finally decided to make the switch b/c all of my friends had had their macbooks for 5 years plus! So far I really love it! It's no very hard to switch, but you will need an OS system. I chose iWork instead of Windows for Mac b/c its cheaper and I have heard good things! So far so good! The laptop is also really cool looking and glossy, but it does scratch pretty easily. I would recommend buying some type of protective case or cover if you're going to be carrying it around with you. I got the incase pink neoprene sleeve from Best Buy and it works well. I also bought a keyboard cover to keep my keys nice and white! So far the computer is still super fast (I upgraded the RAM to 4GB and HD to 320GB). The installed programs in iLife are pretty cool. iPhoto can do some pretty awesome things! Overall great computer! A bit pricey but I'm hoping it will last me a couple years unlike my previous PCs!

I should have done this earlier
Posted .First of all, I am an experienced computer user and have worked on a lot of different hardware and software. Initially I had this mindblock about Mac being expensive, limited and difficult to use, but all that has changed now. I got this new MacBook 2 days back and I can say that it has been one of the best decisions that I have made so far where buying an electronic device goes. This is my first Mac but 4 th Laptop (excludes the two desktops that I have). I was very used to using a windows based PC and thought that it was so easy and beautiful. Boy was I mistaken! Not only is Mac more beautiful, it is more fun and easy to use with less hiccups. I have nothing against windows and am still using windows where work goes but Mac has simply bowled me over. The time I started up the Mac for the first time I knew that this would be love at first sight! The display, the sound, the ease with which Mac setup my user account was smooth and nice that I was left speechless. I was worried at first as to how long the learning curve would be for a transition from a windows based system to Mac, but it was more like fun than a learning curve. I actually enjoyed "discovering" the cool features that Mac offers and every time I found something new I felt the exhilaration that a child feels when he/she opens a present to find that it contains the gift that was so far only in dreams! I have not yet had the chance to go through all the cool features such as iPhoto, iCal... but whatever I have done I know that I am hooked on to it for life. I wish I could gift a mac to every person that I love. I am a geek and never had to go to an expert for any trouble with my computers (starting from hard disk crashes, memory upgrades, assembling hardware, even removing viruses that the anti virus softwares were unable in removing) so trust me when I say that the Mac exceeds my expectations (in a good way ofcourse). Thank you Apple for this lovely piece of engineering. I wish I had switched earlier.

Buy the Apple!
Posted .If you are thinking about buying a laptop and can't decide wether you want a PC like you're used to or a Mac then you really need to read this... Long story short, my two sisters and I all got laptops as a really early christmas present from our dad. I had always wanted a laptop and after further research I decided that if I was going to get a computer I wanted a Mac. I knew that they were really nice, never froze, worked really well, and everything was just so much better. I went to the Apple store and asked the Apple person why I would buy a Mac for $999 when I could get a Dell Inspiron for half the price, have a bigger screen, and get it in a color other than white? I don't remember everything he said but one thing that caught my attention was that he said "Macs don't get any viruses or bugs, unlike PCs." So I ordered my Mac. Meanwhile, my sisters, who aren't as big on computers and tech stuff as I am, went for the pretty colors of the Dell Inspirons. After a day or so of having my Mac I was hooked. I love it! Everything about it amazes me. Did you know about all the different touch functions the touch pad has? It makes it so easy to navigate the cursor, make right clicks, scroll down, zoom in... and it's so sensitive you don't have to pound on it to click. Did you know that no matter what or where you are typing the Mac spell checks everything?! Even while I was writing this review, it spell checked my words! If you care about spelling. As for my sisters and their Dells... well... they aren't so happy. The first day she was like, "Oh my gosh! This is so cool! I love it! And look how much bigger it is than yours!" (She was talking to me) The next day she began actually using it and it was like it was already 5 years old and low on RAM (that's the necessary memory that makes computers run fast). Bottom line, she is already frustrated with her couple day old, doesn't have any files or used memory to speak of yet, Dell Inspiron (PC). If you have the money buy a Mac. Don't be intimidated by the different way they work. They are infinite times better than any PC you can buy. And they aren't hard to get used to at all. When you buy a Mac... get iWork with it. You'll need it if you're going to use your computer for anything but the internet. Not that it does't come with a lot of cool stuff like iPhoto and iMovie. But it doesn't come with a word processing program that is good for writing essays or resumes. Get iWork. It's like Microsoft Office and comes with three programs that you PC users should already be familiar with. Here's a "key" I came up with... Pages= Microsoft Word. Numbers= Microsoft Excel. and Keynote= Microsoft Powerpoint. I suggest going to the Apple website, choose "Mac" then scroll down until you see "Learn your way around a Mac in minuets." Watch all the videos on the subjects you want to know more about (like iWork). It was really helpful for me and they are really easy to understand and follow. So if you can't decide if you want to stay with your not so trustee PC or convert to a Mac, go with the Mac. Really. You will be 100% satisfied. Still can't decide? http://www.apple.com/findouthow/mac/ Copy and paste that in your URL, take some time, and watch the videos.

Great features at a price.
Posted .I have being using this MacBook for almost three weeks now, everyday, nonstop, and I must say, I'm loving it. I was a PC user for 17 years until I decided to switch since it was time for me to chose a laptop for college. I went with the MacBook since it is the cheapest in the MacBook line and also because it is the one that's been the most recently updated. If price does not matter for you, you'll love this MacBook a lot, but if price does matter to you, you'll love it even more when you consider the fact that with PC for example you have to save money for antivirus and aditional software, awhile Mas OS X brings all the essential software and the rest is mostly available for free. I would say that this has been one of the best buys that I have made in my life, because I was really getting tired of PC and its usual problems and rants. Mac OS X was very easy to get used to and to customize to my needs, and I have been pushing the MacBook to the limits and it has not let me down not even once. The battery is really great, something that new laptops are getting, but the MacBooks were the first to get such powerful and long lasting batteries. Although it is non-interchangeable, you won't find the need to do so. The backlit display screen is gorgeous. You can even see things in sunlight, something that's almost impossible with other laptops in the market, and it can be REALLY bright and colourful if you want it to be. The keyboard suits my need, and the trackpad is so soft to handle it's a pleasure just to move the mouse around. This MacBook brought me the new MagSafe connector, which is metallic grey and flat and has not broken or burnt or any of the stuff that was happening to previous generation's MagSafe power adapters. It's magnetic clip has proved me very useful and has saved my MacBook from falling quite a number of times. I did notice a few scratches on the top of my MacBook even though I take care of it like a baby, and the top of the MacBook gets very dirty, very easily, but I'm guessing its as a result of my nonstop "abuse". I am very confident all of you will love it no matter what, and if you're a bit skeptical regarding the price, then believe me: it's worth every penny.

great computer, maybe not for everybody
Posted .I've always resisted buying a Mac - I've been a lifelong PC guy. But I've also always been a desktop guy; this is the first laptop I've owned. After a couple of weeks with the MacBook, I have to say that I'm more or less in love with it. Mac OS X really is impressive; it's fast, it's streamlined, and it comes with almost all the software you need for day-to-day work (except an office suite). This computer multi-tasks well, everything feels really snappy, and the battery seems to last a good long time. This computer seems to meet most people's needs; it's plenty powerful for most users, except for gamers and people who do video/audio editing etc. A couple things to keep in mind: the screen, which is absolutely beautiful, is glossy and the glare can be pretty bad. If you need to use your computer outdoors, you might want to look elsewhere. The price for a MacBook is pretty high, too. But there are deals out there, and Best Buy will match prices with other stores. Another thing that concerns me: I've only had my Mac for 2 or 3 weeks, but my battery health is already down to 94%. If it keeps dropping at this rate, it'll be at 0% within 6 months! Overall, a really nice product. I probably wouldn't buy a Mac desktop, because Mac Pros cost too much and iMacs aren't really customizable - not great for gaming or as a media center/TV replacement. But the MacBooks are killer for general productivity. Also, think about the MacBook Pro: for an extra 200, you get the aluminum chassis, a backlit keyboard, an SD card slot, and FireWire.

Fantastic Laptop Value, yes, Value!
Posted .This is my second MacBook purchase. I own a MacBook Pro and my wife loved it so much over her Windows based Laptop that I decided to buy this for her. The specs for the computer are similar to most other options but what really sets this MacBook apart is how stable and secure it is and that it is so easy to use. We haven't had either of our MacBooks crash and leave them turned on all the time. The OS recovers system resources very well, reducing the need to restart to reclaim them. For someone not too computer savvy, using this computer is as easy as point and click. It provides "prettier" ways of doing things, managing and viewing photos and music while remaining fast and powerful. The touch-sensitive track pad is so neat to use that after you get experienced with it, using other methods of control seems counter productive. Using your fingers to manipulate offline or online content, makes managing folders or surfing the net so much more enjoyable. Switching between programs, clearing the screen, zooming into photos or webpages, and scrolling make the track pad an absolute necessity! Accessing the internet either through a land line cable or wireless is very easy. OSX Leopard makes it quick and painless to "setup", likewise with setting up printers either by cable or wireless. Word processing is available right away, but an "office" type suite will have to be purchased, iWork. Although this model isn't the top-of-the line for video gaming, it can be done. All Macs are able to boot into a Windows Operating System providing a complete Windows environment able to achieve all the things that are used on Windows PC's. The Windows OS will have to be purchased seperately. The higher-end Macs are a better option for gaming. People usually are concerned about the price, but if comparisons of quality components are done, it's evident that similar PC's across the board are just as expensive. If users are familiar with the Windows Operating System, then using Apple's OSX Leopard Operating System will be similar but with a few twists, mostly with the location of the "Start" menu and "Programs" menu. Once you experience a MacBook in daily life, it will become clear as a better choice.

BEST COMPUTER EVER
Posted .This is my first MAC, and I don't know why it took so long to make the switch from PC to MAC!!! I usually don't write reviews, but for this Awesome computer I had to take the time! First off, if you are scared that making the switch is going to be difficult...don't be! I use PC at work and school and us all the Microsoft programs i.e.. word, excel, powerpoint, and the only program that I had to purchase for the MAC thus far was Microsoft Office 2008 for MAC, and I am able to switch my documents seamlessly between PC's and my MAC, there are actually some new and cool features in the MAC version (this program does take a little to get use to but for the most part works the same as the program on the PC's. Lastly I printed off the student discount from apple and Best buy priced matched it, so I only paid $900 which is great, and if you are a student like me take advantage of this great opportunity. I can't say enough about how cool this computer is. What are waiting for go out and get one!!! Oh one other cool thing is the power adapter, it is sooooo small and magnetic (you will see and understand when you get it)!
