Never Going Back to PC
Posted .This is the first Mac I have ever owned and I will never buy a PC again. I found myself recently needing a new computer - fast. I wasn't looking to spend much, but after hearing such negative things about every low end model of PC on the market right now, and realizing that I would need to spend well over 1,000 for good PC, I decided to dig into my savings and jump ship and go with a Mac. It was the best decision I have ever made. This laptop is as powerful as it is beautiful, and comes fully loaded with a plethora of great programs like iMovie, iPhoto, and GarageBand that do more than I could have ever gotten with a PC. I travel a lot, so the small size, solid aluminum body, and long battery life fit perfectly with my lifestyle. I have yet to run into a case where the battery died while I was out. Plus it shuts down in under 10 seconds meaning I don't have to wait forever when I'm ready to go. What really impressed me about this computer is all of the little things that tend to not be mentioned. The power cord is magnetic where it plugs into the computer, making plugging it in quickly a breeze. The keyboard lights up in a stylish way that doesn't hurt my eyes but still looks good, and there is a censor that makes the screen dim or get brighter depending on the amount of light in the room so that it doesn't damage your eyes. This list goes on. Plus it takes no time at all getting used to the differences between a PC and a Mac, so no need to worry about a learning curve. This is an amazing computer. Expensive, yes, but worth every dollar.

Great Laptop. Excellent Build Quality.
Posted .Apple really takes pride in the development of a their products. This laptop is sturdy due to the manufacturing process used for the uni-body. Truly innovative... If you feel cramped on a pc laptop keyboard then you will absolutely love typing on the Mac. I'm using a bluetooth mouse with this laptop and was quite impressed with how easy that was to set up. I've transfered my iTunes library from my pc to this new mac with no issues. Everything feels very fluid and intuitive. I've been a pc user for the last 10 years, and decided to move on to Mac as I already have an iPhone and Apple Tv. So it made sense for me to make the switch. If you are a long time pc user, there will be a little bit of change for you, but it is worth it. It will take a few days/weeks to get the hang of it. If you are on the fence for pc or mac and have the money, go with the mac. You won't be disappointed.

*sigh*
Posted .Okay, first for the good stuff. I got this computer mostly for work and I program on it a lot. And of course it's great to have all of the developer start up tools built in- there's no downloading, searching or paying for interpreters and compilers. The unix based system is beautiful as always and it's ridiculously easy to access your terminals. But yeah, you can expect that from all Apple computers. Now, the issues here: So, yeah. I dropped my computer. It was once. And what I got was not just a dent (now it has zillions, this computer gets dents easier than my nails get chipped) but the ENTIRE LID got bent, which results in me not being able to completely shut the computer. As in, making the screen approach the body to close the laptop? Yeah, not happening with this baby. And since the entire body is aluminum it won't just break, it's bent and folded in weird spots and just looks awful. Now, you might be thinking: "that's what you get for dropping your computer to the floor", but in reality, half the people I work with have these and they've all gone through similar situations with no better luck (in fact, I know someone who cannot insert an ethernet cable because the aluminum surrounding the port blocks it). Aside from the hardware issue, and the fact that this computer gets REALLY REALLY HOT (and no, it's not the cooling liquids that got screwed up when it fell; I checked), it has also had issues with the GUI and graphics in gral (in a MacBook Pro, I know, oh the irony!) and has crashed on several occasions. Which, come on, running on Unix should NEVER EVER happen, even if it's on 24/7. I mean, idk. I work with it, but it's my secondary computer. I'll change it eventually, I just wish it was a tiny little more reliable.

Mac Book Pro line laptop
Posted .I have been a PC user for all my life, but after spending $1400 on a laptop that i thought would last me over 3 years only lasted me about a year and a half. It did random stuff as pop open cd-drive, not have wireless connection, and hard to boot up sometimes so i read a lot of reviews and set my mind up on the 13" Macbook pro. I went to BB and only than realized how small the 13" would be so i went with the 15" cuz of the size. It wasn't easy spending 500$ more cuz i dont need all that hard drive space, but none the less i sucked it up. It boots up so quick, no more waiting for software to load as it did on my previous HP even after i disabled some of them. I put a dvd in it the other night and it was spinning really loud so i was dissapointed at first but than it just quiet down and was really shocked and made me fall in love even more. No more loud fans. Getting use to the operating system didn't take me long at all, its just gonna take time figuring out all the little stuff this baby offers and using the trackpad to its fullest. I do have 2 complaints. My first is the edge of the computer kinda digs in my for arms when its in my lap but that could be my fault for not sitting proper. The other is when its in my lap at first its really cold, but i guess thats better than it being hot like my HP did. All in all i am so glad i made over the switch, best money i ever spent. I did go with the BB coverage plan for 1 year that 99$ because apple doesn't cover anything if it would go wrong, so now im worry free for at least 1 year since i can return it if anything happens.

Love IT! Made a family movie DVD in no time!
Posted .I had never purchased a laptop before and have always dealt with a Dell desktop which was slow and always having problems. I had tried to burn family digital movies on the Dell and would spend HOURS and end up with ERROR messages. I decided to go all out and get the Macbook Pro 15' model in November 2009. It took a few weeks to get to know the computer and how it worked. I also have an i-phone, which i love. I used the i-movie software and started to download my movies and start making a DVD. A couple hours of editing and bang....out came a burned CD that worked!!!! I made multiple copies and sent them to family for Christmas presents and to save for our kids to take with them later in life. I have also added Parallel Desktop 5 and can now run windows programs and the Mac operating software at the same time. I would recommend getting this. Have fun...Off to make another movie.

Best Laptop I've Ever Owned
Posted .Apple continues to deliver time and time again. Yes, you do pay much more for apple products, but wouldn't you rather pay more for something that is going to work and function properly. I am right with everyone who has gone through laptop through laptop due to hard drive crashes, battery failures, viruses and everything else out there. This is second mac in three years and i have not had a problem with any of them slowing down, crashing, or making me want to chuck it out the window. Apple makes it easy to do things that are complicated on a pc. When i brought this home, i just plugged in my portable hard drive with my old mac backed-up on it, and it transferred everything from my old mac onto this: itunes music, wallpapers, photos, documents, everything was transferred with a click of one button. I know this review makes it sound like apple is paying me for this review, but i just like them that much, haha. Stop worrying about whether you will like it or not, and just buy one and try it! I know you will love it. Also, i would HIGHLY recommend getting the protection plan on this; it does much more than the apple care, and just a minor repair for this is going to cost a lot of money. It's an investment, why not invest in protecting it? hope this helps those of you who are contemplating buying one.

Great laptop
Posted .I have had this laptop for about a month now. I bought the open box and saved about 170 dollars. I am very pleased with this unit. Other than a few finger prints on the screen, nothing was wrong with this unit. I have been working with computers since the mid 80's when I was trained on the NCIC system. I have always owned a PC, and still do. However, I have been wanting an OSX. So I finnaly broke down and bought one. I am such a lug. I should have got this years ago, It is so very easy to use. It just works, no tweeks or calls to customer service. Just plug and play. I know nothing of windows 7, except for what I have read, and although I will look at it, no matter what, I will never give up the OSX. It is a solid operating system. I could not be more happier with this unit. Its clean and rock solid and well worth the money. Why you ask? Because I will save a lot more money in the long run. A PC with the same specs runs about 900, but with the service agreements and virus protection, along with a comperable music and pic and video editing softwear, plus the lost time getting a PC repaired, The MAC OSX is the best choice for me. And hundreds of dollars cheaper. AND THIS WAS AN OPEN BOX MODEL. Thanks for reading.

Worth its price, best device I've owned!
Posted .Prior to having a MacBook Pro, my wife also had one and I had my 24" iMac for years. We love our Macs. My wife convinced me it was time to untether and suggested a Netbook, so we looked at those and quickly ruled them out for their minimal capability and cheap construction. This took us quickly to Notebooks, and we not only encountered cheap construction, but lack of intuitive hardware controls (how do you configure the trackpads, etc.). In-store support was of little help, so we walked over to the computer we really wanted as the price point for something of quality and performance on Wintel machines kept climbing into Apple range, but still not quite Apple quality. After tax, the unit was well under $2K (despite Microsoft's get-a-PC ads), and was lighter than the plastic laptops we had tested in the store, speed is fantastic, and quality of the device is first-rate. You can buy a cheaper Laptop. You'd get a cheaper Laptop, so you're getting something in the MacBook Pro that is more premium. No regrets on the purchase, I've recommended it to others and they've quickly changed their mind on a Wintel laptop.
