Apple - Smart Keyboard Folio for 12.9-inch iPad Pro (3rd Generation)

I was hoping and Praying Logitech, Bridge or another reputable company was going to release a compatible keyboard with features not found on Apples Over priced Keyboard. Think about it. IPAD PRO 3 (2018) 12.9 starts at $999 while the Comaptible Keyboard from Apple cost 20% of the IPADS cost. SERIOUSLY? Because they know they have you with the only option. Same with the NEW PENCIL with it’s 30% Increase in price. This Keyboard works average with Zero extra’s. No back lit, no short cut keys like simple VOLUME, or HOME BUTTON, or BRIGHTNESS. Would this have really been to much to include on the OVER PRICED KEYBOARD that is SO BASIC I cannot wait until the other Companies release a better compatible Keyboard. I will sell this one ASAP on EBay. I don’t like How Apple Nickles and Dimes you for every single thing. The Ear Buds are less money than this Keyboard and they are over priced. While I am at it the new Pencil can’t perform basic gestures like a 99 cent Dollar Tree Stylus. I can’t switch between apps, or unlock using Pencil I can use the stylus. and not having a home button is frustraiting because swiping up doesn’t always work and may take several tries.

At the time of this writing, the keyboard is one of the only keyboard folios for the 2018 12.9-inch iPad Pro (3rd gen). Overall, excellent build quality, the keyboard itself better to type on than I had expected it to be. I wish there was more key travel but this does a good job of combining a slim profile and decent overall feel. I've had no issues with connectivity and the folio case always felt pretty secure. Where I think the folio case falls short is viewing angles. There are only two -- other latest gen tablets (such as the Pixel Slate) have keyboard cases with more viewing options. I also think that the folio feels a bit awkward when you're not using the keyboard and, for example, you're holding the iPad Pro in portrait mode. You can feel the keys on the other side and it's a bit weird (they are not operational in that orientation, don't worry). Those two minor issues aside, I think it's great product, and definitely the best of what's out there at the moment.

I initially got this from Best Buy a few days after launch. The package I received was factory fresh and unopened. Upon opening the box, I found there were fingerprint stains and smudges all on the keyboard cover, and also a “speckle” type pattern on half of the back of the keyboard case itself. It tried to remove it with soap and water and it did not come off. This is the first time I’ve experienced a poor out of the box experience with an Apple product. I took it back to Best Buy where they said they did not have any in stock and had to drive an hour to a different Best Buy to obtain a replacement. The replacement I purchased did not have any of these problems at all out of the box. The case and keyboard work well, but I would warn people to closely inspect their item out of the box to make sure that it is not as I described.

It is very sad that this keyboard case is the only one that is available during the time of the Ipad Pro’s (3rd gen) release. I am coming from using the Qode (from Belkin) and that keyboard/case blew this one out of the water with value for the money for half the money. Pros -Keyboard feels great. (Typing feels very natuural for me) -Nice Strong magnets, Ipad always feel nice and secure to the case -Case is very thin and low profile Cons -So overpriced -No keyboard/Ipad shortcuts (no siri, or other Ipad controls) -No backlighting (this is a big one)

This case fits like a glove and snaps on without effort. The two viewing angles comes in handy and clicks and locks into place. Typing takes a little bit to get used to and i would like it to allow you to control more from the keyboard (volume, scrolling with arrows, home button, etc). It offers great protection for the screen when it’s closed but does not offer much, if any corner and side protection. It is a quality product like I expect from Apple and carries that price tag as well. That being said I don’t regret one bit spending the money on this keyboard case. Plus it makes the iPad Pro feel complete and capable of replacing laptops in most day to day tasks.

I bought this with new 3rd Gen 12.9" iPad Pro, and I am very pleased to have done so. It protects the iPad well enough, and the keyboard is functional and easy to get used to. It also feels like a full-length keyboard, which is nice. I do miss the backlit keys that you could get with other 3rd party vendors, but with two small kids who sometimes have crumbs and liquid nearby, I appreciate the splash and debris resistance in the keyboard. I'm sure one could get by without a screen protector, but I bought one too, and it works well with the case. The case is also designed to work with the 2nd gen Apple Pencil as well. I'm a fan!

The function and form of this little Folio is pretty good. I've had both the first gen iPad Pro (12.9) and now the 3rd gen iPad Pro (12.9). This is my first Apple Keyboard Folio. The Goods: - Lightweight. - Good Keyboard function - quick & easy install and removal The Bads: - Expensive. (I think this should be about $50 dollars cheaper.) - Feels inexpensive. (I've got concerns about longevity.) - Not great for the lap... better than the previous versions but still trying to find the balance between tablet and laptop. That's what I've got...

Although I know technical reviews might find more hits/misses with this model and other ones - overall the form and functions for this iPad are very well thought out and what I would expect from Apple. I do struggle with the price off Apple products which is why there are 4 stars. The pencil and keyboard are what make this iPad better than prior models - which of course are an added cost. That said, I would certainly buy it again. Best Buy workers were excellent in helping me decide on the purchase and knew the features and could help me compare models as well as competitive products.
